A Darker Diver: Introducing the Tudor Heritage Black Bay “Black”
To many watch aficionados, Tudor emerged from the considerable shadow of its big brother Rolex in 2013, when its vintage-inspired divers’ watch, the Tudor Heritage Black Bay, won the “Revival” prize at the prestigious Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genve. That model, with its black dial and burgundy bezel, begat another version in 2014, with a bezel in dark blue (nicknamed by fans “Midnight Blue”). Now the brand has announced a third variation, in which both the dial and bezel are black. The Tudor Heritage Black Bay “Black” takes its design cues from the unique piece that the brand created for the 2015 Only Watch auction, which in turn was influenced (like all the Black Bay models, but this one by far the most heavily) by a historical Tudor watch beloved by collectors, the Tudor Submariner, Ref. 7922. Launched in 1954, this model was the Tudor brand’s first dedicated divers’ watch and was distinguished by its dome-shaped dial and
Guy 3D Prints Excellent, Massive Rolex Submariner Watch: A True Desk Diver
People who enjoy 3D printing as a hobby tend to like mechanical things, and you know what that means - a lot of them are going to be watch guys. Even Bre Pettis, the founder of Makerbot (probably the most popular producer of 3D printers for consumers) is a big watch lover. The 3D printing universe has opened up a world of very interesting possibilities in the realm of horology. While 3D printed watches aren't a glorious reality yet, we've seen an number of developments over the last year, such as the 3D Printed Tourbillon here (which you can buy). Now, check out this 300% Rolex Submariner watch designed and produced by Franc Falco as an homage to his own personal Rolex Submariner. The plans for this awesome giant dive watch are available for anyone to download via Thingversewatches-dealer, a repository of 3D printable projects. The plans include not only the schematics for all the parts you'll need (expect for the clock mechanism which is a cheap separate purchase), but also a detailed
Official Game Of Thrones 'The Night's Watch,' Wrist Watch
Thanks to watch maker Ulysse Nardin, The Night's Watch now has a watch. Teaming up with HBO, Ulysse Nardin has produced a limited edition version of their Marine Diver for the Game of Thrones. The pre-mechanical fantasy medieval world now brought to life in the popular cable television show, now has a timepiece all its own. Just don't expect to see the piece on the wrist of Jon Snow or other members of the celibate order of honorable men and prisoners who man "the wall."As an eager "watch spotter" when it comes to timepieces worn by characters in television shows that I like, I was resolved to the fact that there would be no timepiece identification opportunities in The Game of Thrones. Series author George R. R. Martin is probably more of a suspenders aficionado, but I bet he would like this. Actually, the author does wear a watch, but he wears it face side down under his wrist - so I can't tell what it is.As a limited edition of just 25 pieces, this version of the Ulysse Nardin Marin
Speedy on Mesh...
For years now I am hunting for the right strap/bracelet for the Speedmaster.Due to my rather small wrists the Speedy looks pretty large, and I am not into large watches as you all might know..I prefer them max 40mm.The most beautiful strap combo is honey brown leather IMHO..The bracelet....well, I tried them all, but the Mesh...IMHO the ultimate Speedy bracelet together with the 1450 of course. But the good thing about the Mesh is that it downsizes the size of the Speedy.Of course this is a optical illusion, but it works for me..Here some snapshots I made yesterday with my cellphone..Lets see how long this combo stays on my wrist....
New addition and I'm throwing in the towel (for now)
Just picked up my 5396g today, it's amazing and I really wasn't going to pick this up for another few years. When I came home tonight to take a couple of low quality photos of my collection I was quite overwhelmed. I think it's safe to say I have all I want and all I need. Time to give up on the chase and I enjoy what I have:
