Auction Watch: March 27th Antiquorum Results Show Static Patek Philippe Prices
Please enjoy the following post by Chris Meisenzahl. He is a long-time watch enthusiast and daily Speedmaster Pro wearer. He blogs at amateureconblog.blogspotwatches-dealer/ and can be followed on Twitter at twitterwatches-dealer/speedmaster.Last week auction house Antiquorum wrapped-up their recent March auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces in Geneva. When it was complete the auctions had raised CHF 6,457,937. 83% of the 564 timepieces up for auction were sold. Below are a few of the notable highlights from the auction. The highlight of the auction, at least as it was touted by Antiquorum, was a private collection of 33 erotic timepieces. That collection by itself was sold for 719,200 CHF, twice what had been officially estimated. The "Musique d'Amour" (lot 187) (seepic here, NSFW) is in addition to being of the erotic variety, is also a musical watch and offers two automaton scenes. It was created by Genevan watchmaker Henry Capt circa 1810. I wonder if he was an anc
Thoughts On The Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra-Thin Jubilee (The Thinnest Mechanical Watch In The World)
2013 is Jaeger-LeCoultre's 180th anniversary, and to celebrate they have presented a "Jubilee" collection.? The most impressive of this trio of watches is the Gyrotourbillon Three, which we showed you in great detail in episode three of the Road To Basel.? The second watch in this Jubilee set is the cylindrical tourbillon with perpetual calendar.? It's definitely an amazing piece, too.? But to me, the most interesting watch in Jaeger-LeCoultre's 180th anniversary Jubilee set is one of the most simple, clean watches JLC has made in a long time.? In fact, it might set the new standard for complete elegance.? Actually, the Master Ultra-Thin Jubilee does literally set a new standard for something - it is the thinnest mechanical watch on earth, with case thickness of just 4.05mm. ?Read on for more about this incredible watch. 2 OF 27 The MUT Jubilee continues with a theme set forth by such awesome watches as the MUT Moonphase, and this year's truly superb MUT Perpetual Calenda
Found: The Actual Watches Used In The James Bond Film 'Spectre' Up For Auction At Christie
There are James Bond watches and there are James Bond watches, the ones you are about to see are the latter. On February 18th, Christie's London is auctioning off 25 pieces of James Bond memorabilia from the set of the most recent James Bond movie Spectre. The Seamaster 300 Spectre limited edition was an awesome watch, but now you have the chance to own the exact one worn by Daniel Craig on the set! Or, if you remember, the one according to Q that "Tells the time. But do be careful with the alarm, it's rather loud." For full disclosure, certain functions might not be included in this one, but I won’t go further to avoid spoilers. 1 OF 9 SPECTRE. All Rights Reserved To Danjaq, MGM, CPII. You could also choose another Seamaster 300 worn by the elusive Mr. White, or a vintage rose-gold Longines worn by James Bond’s boss, M. Or even a Rado worn by the frightening master assassin Mr. Hix. And I almost forgot to disclose the highlight of the sa
Need help from experts
Good friend of mine works at a jewelry shop and just got this watch back from breitling service. I know this is a cosmonaute but thats all i know. This is the only pic he sent to my phone. He said $3500 for the price. What year do you think its from ? what the value of this watch ? Are the chronograph dials gold? What long term value am I looking at ?Im a noob to breitling and this would make my second. got a superocean 44 about 3 months ago.
Another "Which one to choose" thread :)
I've been torn between 4 watches. Coincidentally, 2 are rolex models and 2 are omega models. :P (Rolex Sub and GMT Master) and these 2 from omega:.prestigetime/item.php?item_id=2272 and .prestigetime/item.php?item_id=818I equally love the looks on both watches. I love the GMT function on the Seamaster, but then there's something about having a manual wind watch that interests me. Any other differences between the two that I should know about? :DAnother question is, when it comes to Omegas, is older usually better? Like what's the difference between a Seamaster/Speedy from the 70s and 80s compared to the new ones? Thanks!
