Inside The Manufacture: A HODINKEE Reader Recounts His Visit To Piaget: Say Hello To Our Contest Winner!
My wife and I would like to thank Piaget and HODINKEE for our trip to Switzerland to visit Piaget, and to see its manufacture in La Cote aux Fees, and its headquarters in Geneva. Here are a few of my thoughts:Proud of being Piaget and taking pride in one's work: When I was listening to Yves Bornard (who's been with the company for 40+ years!) talk about the history of Piaget I could see his glowing pride. When the watchmakers showed us what they are working on, I too could see their pride in being Piaget, and how proud they are with their work. Yves takes out an employee log book from the 1940s. It is old, and its pages are yellow, and falling apart. How many companies can show visitors something like that today?Bao and Yves in discussionWhat it means to be true manufacture. One of the things that stuck with me, and help me get a clearer picture of what it means to be a manufacture was Yves explaining the importance of having the movements assembled up in the Jura Mountains where it is
15300 quality of polishing?
I'm looking for a good quality AP 15300, black dial and tried on this one. My concern is that I feel the case polishing has lost its sharp detailing.I'd be really keen to get other people thoughts. Many thanks

Speedmaster Professional Circa. (another ye ol' "help me date my watch" bit waster)
Ok. Start with Sorry.I know I start this thread to the disdain of many. Yes, I've searched this forum and the web. But I give up. My Speedy is my favorite. It is a replacement for one that went MIA from my office back when they called IT Data Processing/MIS. So, I place it at mid-late 1980's.It has a #1450 bracelet that is somewhere in my room. Without cracking it open, can someone let me know a more specific year(s) and Cal.?Help me, Obi-Wan Forumites. You are my only hope.Sincere Thanks...
Omega pricing discounts
Anybody know of a real hungry Omega AD? I have seen Omegas on gray market sites at up to 30% off (no warranty or card) and located one AD that typically goes to 25%, but would like to find an AD that will go 35%.I have done a lot of business with my local watch dealer and he usually allows me 35-40% off most brands they carry. They carry many of the major brands, except Rolex (Breitling, IWC, TAG, Jaeger, Ulusse-Nardin, Breguet, Blanpain, Glasutte, Cartier - to list a few). I can usually count on 38% off list and the warranty, but they no longer carry Omega. Omega dropped many dealers last year. They can get me one from another dealer, but the dealer won't give it to them at cost, so my discount isn't a good as it would normally be.
