Nautilus 5711 questions
Hi guys! I am seeking for assistance please. I was offered a 2007 Patek Nautilus 5711 blue dial. Condition is unworn and it has not been serviced. Questions: 1) does it need a service? 2) has the retail price gone up? current list from 2012 is $26700.00? 3) would you get this piece or wait for a new one? If you choose this piece what sort of amount would you offer? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
to polish or not polish
my new-to-me 16570 Polar Explorer II is at RSC right now. looks like it's never been serviced, and i have a quote for some normal service (movement servicing, new crown, timing, etc.) that includes polishing.i've put the question to them about the engraving (not mine), if that can be removed with a polish or if a new caseback is needed.they're awaiting my approval. my inclination is to not do the polish, but i wanted to get some opinions.i'm linking offsite to hi-res photos. i hope these provide enough clarity, and sorry for my poor photography skills.backbracelet9 sidecrown sidefront
116618LB but at what cost?
I've been wanting a 116618LB, ideally mint from 2015-2017 for low/mid 20s. A trusted grey dealer here in Boston says he can get me a new one for 28.5k, which is more than I'd want to pay for new. 27.4 would be 20% off msrp and more palatable, even if a few thousand more than a mint recent used one that I'm primarily looking for. Question is, do you think that's worth it at 28+? For me I think it's more the principle of the thing than the actual 1k difference off what I think would be fair for new. Should I stick to my guns and keep looking, or just go for it? A big consideration for myself is that I only pay cash and thus need to buy in person, ideally locally.
Brand new Sky Dweller, and going to RSC for service
Well, looks like I'm raining on my own parade I picked my brand new Sky Dweller last week and upon winding it up, the crown is very, very, VERY stiff. This isn't my first watch or Rolex so I know what winding is supposed to feel like, even when the mainspring is fully wound. So I brought it back to my Rolex AD and they agreed that the crown is very stiff. Well, it's going back to Rolex RSC in Dallas for repairs.Good news is it's still under warranty, with 4 years and 360 days to go.I just can't believe or understand how something like this was not tested or caught by Rolex's quality control? And how competent is RSC Dallas to work on this complication???
