A Week On The Wrist: The Ball Trainmaster Kelvin
A temperature gauge isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of high-end mechanical watches. It’s a complication relegated to digital fare and the screens of our phones. With the Trainmaster Kelvin, Ball brings the temperature readout back into mechanical territory, incorporating it into a heritage design complete with Swiss movement. The watch, so named for Irish Physicist and engineer Lord Kelvin, is meant to honor his work in absolute temperatures, but how well does it hold up as formal wear? We spent a week with the Trainmaster Kelvin in 18k gold to find out. 1 OF 31 Introduction Ball Watch may be unfamiliar to some readers, but their dramatic origins will shed some useful light on the “Official Standard” and “RR” signage as used throughout their current model range. Ball Watch gets its name from Webster Clay Ball (Webb C. Ball), a jeweler to Cleveland, Ohio, known for adopting Standard Time upon its int
Buzz Aldrin 105.012?
In reading old threads and doing an internet search there does seem to be some disagreement on which watch Aldrin wore as he stepped onto the moon, 105.012 or 145.012. Since Aldrin's watch was lost/stolen we will never know for 100% certain. However the following article certainly makes it look like Aldrin wore a 105.012. Opinions? Do some of you believe Aldrin wore a 145.012, and if so why?monochrome-watches/omega-...rly-pre-moons/
Get your Omega before 1st September price rise
Been looking to get the new PO titanium and Liquid metal, and yes before anyone points out I started a thread about them being to dear for an Omega. After seeing a not for sale model I really want one, have just been told the pre realease price of ?4670 if you pay up front now, will increase on 1st September to ?4900 so buy now and beat the price increase. Only downside is you won't get the watch till 2012 as this particual model isn't released till then.
Any RSC Recommendations in Canada?
Hi everyone,Just recently picked up my GMT Master 2 and i'm enjoying it so far. There are a couple of things that concern me and would like to hear your opinions/input (mostly from fellow Canucks) with regards to RSC Procedures. Here's a picture of the watch:One thing about this watch is the quality of Oystersteel in comparison to 316L Stainless Steel. It will trick you to thinking on whether or not the watch is still on your wrist.Anyways, I ended up picking up my own screwdriver for resizing my bracelet as I have heard that some people who resize bracelets (even RSC) can damage screws/links with incorrect care.Does anyone know any recommended RSC here in Toronto/Canada?Thanks!
Any "one-watch" Rolex Owners?
Hey All,I absolutely LOVE watches, and spend a bit too much time each day scrolling through these forums and instagram. Every day I have an urge to add another watch to the collection, however I have seen that as the collection grows, my attachment to each timepiece lessens a bit. Whenever I have my Explorer 214270 on the wrist, I have the urge to become a one-watch guy, wearing this beauty daily for the next 30-40 years. Any successful one-watch Rolex owners out there with a story to tell? Cheers,GV
