UTS Adventure Power Reserve
Nicholas Spinner is an engineer who, along with his brothers, owns a well-known factory that produces watch cases and other components for wristwatch manufacturers. Since 1998 Spinner has also been making UTS watches just outside Munich. The new Adventure Power Reserve features a Unitas 6497-1 movement modified to include a power reserve indicator. The case measures 46mm in diameter and is water resistant to 500 meters.
PO 8500 Lume Shots
I just took a couple lume shots. Long exposures aren't done very well on my point and shoot, but you get the idea. I love the blue and green lume. Both of my Omegas had better lume than my GMTIIC.Once my other Omega stuff comes in, I will either dig out one of my better cameras (Hasselblad or Mamiya, both with digital backs) and get some better shots for all to see.Rob.
5164 Aquanaut vs 15202 AP Jumbo
I have an option of trading my 5167 for an AP Jumbo (plus a bit of cash). But arriving in a few weeks is a 5164 that I have first dibs on (and have been waiting for). Trade the 5167 for the Jumbo or the 5164?I own a 5711 so perhaps the jumbo will be doubling up. And have owned a 15400 in the past and while I appreciated the craftsmanship I didn't love it (too blingy and large). In fact the only AP I'm interested in is the Jumbo. The 5167 I've warmed too considerably after a slow start but I also like the slightly larger dimensions and the complication of the 5164.Thanks!
Got a leather strap for christmas
Hi all,I got a leather strap for Christmas for my DJ41 and am wondering if it will definitely fit. I think the strap size is 21mm from what I have read on here (information has seemed to vary from 20mm to 21mm). It looks like it will fit but won't have much, if any, room at the lugs. I was wondering if anyone knows if 21mm is definitely the right size? This is my first Rolex and I'm concerned that if I do get the strap replaced it will be very difficult to remove due to the lack of play at the lugs as the leather is quite thick. My AD is quite far so don't particularly want to make the trip if it's definitely a no go. Thanks for any advice.
Weighing a Rolex (Part II?) to verify authenticity
While trying to figure out if a 1985 Rolex DateJust (model 16013) with Jubilee bracelet is (1) real and (2) legit, I saw the How much does it weigh? thread here but, alas, it is closed.I'm convinced it is real, based on numerous sites' information about this model/date Rolex. In pursuit of total verification of that I weighed the watch on a kitchen scale that seems to be fairly accurate and got 104 grams across multiple weighings.So...for those of you in the know of such things, does this make sense? The above-mentioned thread has a range of weights for different watches and this SEEMS to be in the ball park; I wasn't able to find a thread (minimal searching) about this particular model's weight.Any feedback w.r.t. this weight is appreciated.
