On the road to acquiring my first AP
Hi everyone, been reading the forums for awhile and I think I have finally decided to buy my dream watch. I fell in love with the aesthetics of the Royal Oak many years ago but didn't know too much about it at the time. The more I find out about it, the more I see it's value and respect all the work put in to creating a piece like it.I only have 2 nicer watches so far (Rolex Milguass GV for work and a U-Boat Flightdeck Beige for fun) and I was originally going to add a white faced Calibre de Cartier with steel band to my collection. I was kind of set on buying it...but after going to Japan for vacation and actually trying it on a couple times and talking to some people about it, my mind started to wander to AP...I know it's more than double the price but it's what I've always wanted so I figured what the heck?!So...here I am on the hunt for one! I went to my local AD and tried on a 15400 which is pretty much the one I am set on. My first choice would be the boutique edition blue dial b
Omega at Basel
Check out these pictures:forums.timezone/index.php...5652&rid=11125The watches at Omega look lovely. The movements are stunning and the yachtmaster II equivalent is quite beautiful. I think Omega just upped the competition for Rolex, especially after those hideous dials they just released.
Strap question on Petek Philippe
Hi,So i want to get a strap for my mothers Patek Philippe Twenty-4. Is there any after market companies that make straps or bracelets for this particular model?I dont want to go to a PP AD and pay 1k for strap on a watch worth around 9k.Thank you
Insurance on Rolex?
Just wondering how many people out there insure their Rolex? 1. If so, how much usually is the insurance payment annually..lets say a Sub C Date since that's one of the more popular models aside from the BLNR.2. What's the process that people have to go through to insure their watches?3. If for the unlucky few that do have something happen to their Rolex (lost)/(theft), Sapphire crystal chipped, Oyster band falls apart, etc, is the full MSRP of the watch or replaceable parts redeemable or to what extent?Just something to think about for people that just recently acquire a new piece.
How do you photograph your Rolex?
Without buying specialty macro lenses for a Nikon SLR, anyone have any tips on how to best photograph a watch you want to offer for sale? I can never seem to get the detail sharp enough compared to many shown here.
