RSW Outland Automatic Watch Ditches Hands For Disc 'Digilog' Display
One of the boutique yet clever watch makers, RSW (Rama Swiss Watches), brings forth an interesting offering; The RSW Outland Automatic. RSW, whose name and logo font remind me of the shoe store line DSW, has solidified itself among those watch makers inventing modern futurism. Most RSW watches honestly don't make a huge amount of sense to me. It is easy to craft language applauding their unique styling and bold appearance, but I am not entirely convinced the style will be lasting. On the other hand, I certainly have to compliment RSW's ability to intrigue me.The Outland utilizes an idea I actually considered some time ago using revolving disks to indicate the time rather than hands. With out major modification to a standard movement, you can have rotating discs that act as digital rather than analog indicators. If the concept of digital and analog is not clear to you, the idea is that digital shows something through abstract representation, while analog "looks like what it is." Here th
In-Depth: Four Complicated Rolex Models From The Past That Deserve To Be Made Again, As Seen In The Phillips Geneva Watch Auction Two
The longer one spends around the watch collecting world, the more one tends to be interested in early watches – typically those that pre-date the "modern era." What I mean by that is there is a clear division with many brands – Rolex, Omega, and Heuer, for example, all began naming watch lines in the 1950s and '60s: the Submariner, Speedmaster, Carrera, et al. But, the watches that came before these great lines of horology existed are fascinating not only because of their relative obscurity, but also because of their purity in design. In this story, I examine four watches all available in Phillips' Geneva Watch Auction Two that were made by Rolex, and they're all complicated. But, none of them fall under the category of a Submariner, GMT, Daytona, or Explorer. And there is real beauty in that. Poll - Choose The Best Three Watch Collection
If you've followed my threads recently... I will start by apologizing for the obsessiveness and indecisiveness I swear I'm getting close to making a decision. This is pretty simple. Choose the trio you think works best all around as a collection/rotation. Here are the options...A. Tudor Black Bay Black | Rolex 116610LV | Rolex 116680B. Tudor Black Bay Black | AP RO Offshore Diver 15710 | Rolex 116680C. Tudor Black Bay Black | Rolex 116610LV | AP RO Offshore Chronograph Elephant I am always happy to hear opinions and discussions regarding my poll, but as I previously conceded, I've nearly beaten this subject to death recently so I'm not insisting on you all taking the time to justify your positions. I would really like to just see some hard numbers.A.B.C.
Polishing a Nautilus
Has anyone ever had their 5711 polished - case, bezel and/or bracelet by a PP service centre? What was your experience and how satisfied were you after getting back the watch? Was it good as new or were you able to tell that it was polished? Reason I'm asking is because we all know the 5711 is a scratch magnet and I've been very, very careful while wearing it - sometimes to the point where the fear of scratching it takes away the joy of wearing it. However, if I know that when it does get scratched up but I'll be able to bring the watch back to its original pristine condition - I'll be less paranoid and can really enjoy wearing it.
Incoming X2
Just picked up these from my AD, wait time less than 2 months.
