Omega Fan Writes Own 007 Skyfall Theme Song To Beat Of Co-Axial Escapement
Adam Optican wants an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean so badly he wrote a song to the beat of its Omega in-house made calibre 8500 Co-Axial movement. The song is a fan redo of the 2012 James Bond 007 Skyfall movie theme. This is of course appropriate because Omega is the official watch of James Bond, was featured in the movie, and Omega produced a limited edition Seamaster Planet Ocean Skyfall watch to go with the film. The song's tempo precisely matches the 25,200 bph (beats per hour) of the co-axial escapement in the caliber 8500 movement. You'll also hear that Optican inserted the sound of the escapement ticking in various sections of the song. I am pretty sure that is him singing as well. Eat your heart out Adele. How did Optican do it if he doesn't yet have the Seamaster Planet Ocean of his dreams? According to him he recorded the output sound of an ETA 2824 movement which runs at 28,800 bph and mathematically slowed down the audio to match what it would sound like at 25,200 bph. This
Omega 2254.50 discounts?
Talked to an AD at the Tourneau in Atlantic City, NJ yesterday concerning a 2254.50. He didn't have one in stock but told me he would have one in on Tuesday for me (with no obligation on my part). What kind of discounts have others received on Omegas? I'm thinking of asking 10% as I'm going to have to make a second trip since he didn't have it in stock. Am I out of line? He have the Blue face (2255.80) in stock and 2 Quartz Black Divers (2264.50) but for $2000 there's no way on Earth I'd buy a Quartz.
Help me understand the 5130
So I've been interested in the 5130, because the complication is fascinating, and the dial is incredible. However, when I handled one today at a shop, I was disappointed with how it felt pressing the pusher at the 10 o'clock marker. It felt... squishy and not as crisp as I had imagined it to be. Is this normal or did I handle one that didn't feel as crisp as the norm?
Flipped 116200 for 16570
First Rolex was a 116200 which I bought last May, always felt the 36mm a touch small. Found that 40mm is what suits me best, I’ve a 14060M and DJ41 blue dial so wanted the polar white face as a change to the other 2 Rolex I have....Traded my 116200 for this 16570, 3185 cal from 2006 which arrived today. This is gonna be my daily beater, really like it.
