In-House Made At Parmigiani Watches
The sleek Parmigiani Tonda Hemispheres and a superb 1931 Bugatti Type 50SIn our first article about my visit to Parmigiani Fleurier, we covered the history of the brand, its strong connection with restoration, and we also discussed how the company strives to keep the watchmaking and restoring trades alive.?In this second segment, we will discover what it takes to make a Parmigiani watch by taking a special tour of the "Watchmaking hub" that is behind the brand. Officially called MHF (Manufactures Horlogeres de la Fondation), it is a network of five superb manufacturing sites, all primarily owned by the Sandoz Family Foundation, the founder?of Parmigiani Fleurier.Out of the five facilities, Atokalpa SA, is responsible for most moving parts, such as gears and pinions, as well as for components of the escapement, while Elwin SA makes balance shafts and other extremely fine parts. Without them, creating a true in-house calibre would not be possible. This time, however, we will concentrate
Spectacular Incoming
Grateful to all who really talked me in getting this piece. The finishing detailing contrast is just avant garde AP skill. It was difficult letting go of the RG 42mm but after wearing this all day and being spell bound by its presence on the wrist no regrets. In my humble opinion it qualifies for a statement piece
Ladies oak problems
In looking to move up in the world from my rolex sea dweller and date just I took the plunge and bought myself a 41 ROC. I have to say it was my best ever purchase and I am loving the AP.With the above in mind I wanted to upgrade the wife's diamond set MOP with diamond bezel to a ladies oak - a big ask as she loves the latter...A nice surprise under the tree she got the new one on Xmas day, we both took bad with the fact the crown did not tighten (still seems strange) but she wore the watch and loved it.Over the last few days we have since noticed the watch keeps terrible time, adding 9 sec over 1 minute and she has reverted back to the Rolex. I need to go to the AD and get it checked out but AP don't have a service centre in KL and god knows how long it will take. A bad 1st experience for her, I hope it's the last.....
Breitling in the snow.
Avenger seawolf code yellow. Hope you enjoy the pics.
VERSUS: A Touch of Red (GMT-Master / Sea-Dweller)
Eleventh edition of the VERSUS post/picture. What is VERSUS? Well, I thought it would be fun to compare two watches (and only those two watches) and discuss pros/cons by outlining the differences and getting folks' ideas/thoughts/opinions on TRF. We got folks here that have been collecting and studying these things for decades all the way to those who are just starting to venture into the crazy world of Rolex (and everyone in between). Therefore, it would be fun and educational! For this edition, we have a showdown of a couple models with a touch of red. The GMT-Master II 16710 with the red 24-hr hand and the 50th Anniversary Sea-Dweller 126600 with the red 'Sea-Dweller' on the dial.Which do you prefer and why?Previous VERSUS:1.
