Target audience of AP
Wanted to run an observation by the group here. I've been a fan on the Brand and the quality of the watches and movement finishing for a while but something is keeping me away. I've started to notice younger and younger aged gentlemen wearing APs. Mostly Rubber Clad/Offshore and few Royal Oaks. The marketing too has gone heavy on sports, and social media. Also seeing virtually no adverts or launches for the non Royal Oak line or dress watches which is a shame. Has AP changed things around when it comes to the target audience? It's a superb brand and watch maker, but it feels like more a fashion icon/status symbol in last few months to years. Watching Ellen...NATO on her wrist!
Looks pretty good!
The 2254. Is it a classic? Is it worth it?
Any frequenters of the also excellent Watchuseek forums may recognise this post, but I also thought of posting here too, as I find the members of this forum to be more knowledgeable :)After falling hopelessly in love with the 2254.50, I decided to pool my funds so I could get one....After searching the bay and other online resources, at this point of time; I have found that it retails (used, in reasonably good condition) from about $1200 to $1400 USD. As you all know, with Omega no longer producing the 2254.50, Omega fans have hinted at the idea of it becoming a classic. With this in mind, do you think prices will increase in the future?Should I get one now? With around the same amount of money I could get a brand new Maurice Lacroix Masterpiece, which I also like very much... Something along the lines of this:Any thoughts? Is the hype surrounding the 2254 really justified?
Substantial Damage Repair
Hello,Has anyone had any experience with having substantial damage repaired by Patek? Say, for example, a lug was hit extremely hard (enough to essentially chip the steel away) and I wanted Patek to repair it. What sort of cost and time frame shall I expect? I recall Chasseur has had some damage laser repaired but this is more than a scratch, this is a lug completely deformed. I would appreciate any insight. Luckily, I have the watch insured.
