Bulova Precisionist Champlain 1/1000 Chronograph Review
Bulova isn't a brand that needs much introduction. One of the original American watchmakers, their history and significance is well known having developed many innovations in its 100+ year life. Now owned by Citizen, the brand still continues to develop interesting and unique lines of watches. One such line that was first introduced in 2010, but seems to go a bit under the radar, is the Precisionist line.Featuring a very unique movement, the Precisionists are unlike any other quartz watches you've ever seen. Incredibly accurate and with a smooth sweeping seconds, you'll double take the first time you see them in action. While a smooth sweeping seconds quartz might be enough to set these apart already, Bulova went and created a chronograph version with precision up to a thousandth of a second. Needless to say, we had to get our hands on one to see what they were all about and Bulova was kind enough to lend us a Precisionist Champlain Chronograph for this review. Coming in at $799, it's
In with the new (old) 4100ST :)
After some digging, i've always been a huge fan of smaller watches. One day my friends messages me and would not stop harassing me until I picked up this piece that was sitting for sale on the Omega forums. Luckily the seller trusted me after seeing that my account was less than 3 minutes old. I absolutely love the patina it has developed. One of the pictures is a shot that my friend took of his and mineIt's a 4100 35mm RO that fits me perfectly and runs well (still timing it). The service history is unknown so I'll be finding a place to send it to whether it be AP themselves or a reputable place.
SMP & PO review. Not a vs. review
I was on another forum where someone asked if he should get a PO and SMP. I wrote a review about it as I am fortunate enough to have both. I thought I'd post it here too.Watched uses are the SMP 2541 Quartz and PO 42mm Co-Axial.WEAR/STYLINGSMP:The SMP wears a lot thinner then the PO. This makes the SMP a fantastic watch for dressier occasions. I have never had any problems with fitting the SMP under a shirt cuff. Size wise they are about he same diameter. Although it makes a good formal watch, it is also suited for causal and even down right beach wear. Omega got it correct with the styling here. The wave dial give is a fantastic look depending on how the light hits it. It looks like a true divers watch.PO:The PO has more wrist presence for sure. It is thicker then the SMP. I wear it to work. My job is semi-casual so I wear a shirt but dont have the cuffs buttoned up. It sits higher on the wrist but not overly high. It wears more smart-causal to casual and outdoor activity then formal.
Last Sunday I went to Belgium...
....and picked up a few of my vintage Omega's.My watchmaker did a overhaul on them.I picked up 5 but I have only pictures of two of them, rest will follow soon..First this one, bought it on Ebay for only a few $$, worth a try I thought...When the postman brought it it was horrible, the case was very dirty and the movement made a terrible noise..But then again, what can you expect for only $30,-....After my watchmaker was done with it it looked like this...Needless to tell you all that I am VERY happy with the result. The second one was the Omega that I gave to my mom about a year ago. After a complete service it's ready for years of duty..Gave it back to her last evening, she was so thrilled she had tears in her eyes..Like I promised, the rest will follow soon..
