Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Tourbillon Watch
This isn't the first tourbillon watch by Jaquet Droz, though it is the most elegant. A simple concept, this Grande Seconde Tourbillon takes the standard figure 8 dial design and inserts a classy looking tourbillon into the seconds dial. The resulting look is gorgeous and the tourbillon has a neat secret, but can you detect the amusing irony of the watch name? The original Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde watch was named as such because the seconds dial was placed in the larger part of the figure 8 style stacked dials. That is why it was called the "big seconds," because that dial was larger than the dial for the hour and minutes. In this case, to insert the tourbillon (which doubles as the seconds indicator), they used the smaller dial for the seconds. The watch is still called "Grande Seconde," but no longer is. Jaquet Droz could have produced a larger diameter tourbillon for the lower dial, or just changed the name of the watch. They didn't do either, but the second option would have made m
Questions about the Royal Oak
I've been considering purchasing a new RO 15400 41mm the last few days. I have a few questions for those that have purchased one before.1. Can the purchase price be negotiated? The AD I visited didn't seem like they would negotiate. Asking price is $17,800 dlrs. 2. Black or White/silver dial? I really like the white dial but I'm concern that wearing it with jeans and t-shirt will look awkward. Is viewing the hands difficult on the white/silverish dial?3. I was also looking the VC overseas (white dial time and date only) is that comparable to the RO?I plan to wear it frequently.
Last watch for 2011
Hi. Just two days till I pick up my Christmas present and my final watch for this year. An Aqua Terra Chronograph in Red Gold and SS on Brown Allogator. Its been an amazing year... watch wish. I've learnt so much about Omega and changed direction as far as my collection is concerned (Only Omega now) and I am really looking forward to 2012 and what that might bring. Hope you all have a great Christmas and achieve your watch collecting goals next year.

Giving up on Daytona 16520 so 116520
Since the $10K 16520 from last year doesn't seem to exist anymore (which is my favorite), I've decided due to budgetary reasons that I will need to stick to a 116520. Is there any preferable series for any reason or pretty much the same watch from 2000 through the introduction of the Ceramic model? Thanks.
