Crazy experience I had with an AP owner at airport
I just had to share this. So I am waiting in line ready to board a flight with my wife and kids. The guy in front of me is wearing a really shiny silver 44mm ROO. So I wait to asking in as it has a blue rubber strap if that is the SS navy. His eyes light up and says no, but I have one at home as well. So I comment as I noticed how shiny and bright it looks. He looks at my wrist and sees I am wearing my DSSD, he then asks me if I want to try it on. Sure, he takes it off and I hand him my Rolex. I am holding it and comment how heavy it is for a stainless steel, and mention I have had SS AP before and it didn't feel like that. He says no, it's not SS, I then looked up at him and I said, holy crap, this is the platinum. What a really cool and nice guy, he says rarely anyone notices the watch and he was super excited to meet someone who loved watches. Crazy nice things happen in WIS land. I was stupid enough...
I was in Tysons Corner, VA area for meetings, stopped by the Mall for lunch and walked into to the only AP AD in the area. I know the sales people very well and they take good care of me. I really wanted to try on the 39mm Explorer one more time before pulling the trigger on one, but there I was drifting towards the AP case instead...I got to try on the new 44mm carbon chronograph in black, very nice piece, especially the weight in relation to the size, but then sales guy - knowing me - insisted that I try on the classic 42mm rose gold chrono. And I was stupid enough to agree... Wow! Just wow! I'm totally blown away by that watch!I never see myself dropping $55,000 (regardless of what the discount might end up being) given how many kids I have (and yet to put through college), but if I could spare the change I would surely strongly considering awarding myself of of these pieces. What a wonderful piece of horology![photo cred: AP's website]
Omega state of mind
It has been a very STRONG trend for me and my office mates agree and so love these 2 birds too.
Incoming 5711 Blue Dial
My AD called yesterday and said it was in! Ordered in August and picked up yesterday I'd like to thank all you enablers for the pictures and advice. Here are a couple pictures.
The Annual Rolex Calendar
I'm relatively new to the forum and definitely new to Rolex (proud owner of a Hulk). I've become rather intrigued to understand what is on the horizon from the company. From what I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong), any new models are annually revealed to the world at Baselworld. Does Rolex offer pre-Baselworld announcements of new models or are they completely hush-hush until the BW conference? For example, how long before last year's event did people know about the SS SkyDweller or the DaytonaC the year before? Are there years where there are no changes at all? Thanks.
