SIHH 2013 Preview: A. Lange & S?hne Grand Lange 1 “Lumen”
A. Lange & S?hne has revealed the first of its new timepieces to be launched at January’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva: the Grand Lange 1 Lumen. A limited edition of 100 pieces, the watch features two firsts for the German luxury brand: a luminous outsize date and a partially transparent dial. The watch comes in a platinum case and has a dial with sections made of semi-transparent sapphire crystal; only the outer ring and the surfaces of the subdials (one for hours and minutes, the other for small seconds) are made of blackened silver. The sapphire areas reveal the disk mechanism of the outsize date underneath the dial. The big date, a hallmark of the Lange 1 family of watches, is the first one that? glows in the dark, along with the time and the power reserve display. The Lange outsize date was inspired by the Five-Minute Clock in Dresden's Semper Opera House, to which brand namesake Ferdinand A. Lange contributed his expertise in 1841. Like that of the clock, the date mechanism
Habring2 Doppel 2.0 Watch
I don't know why it took me until now to cover Habring2 here on aBlogtoReadwatches-dealer. You've heard about German watch makers, but what about Austrian ones? Well now you have. These guys are pretty cool - and certainly unique. Imagine if Sinn and Tutima had a cousin across the border. Similar but different, that German speaking cousin regularly wore bowties. That would be?Habring2. I mean all is good except for the little mathematical "squared number 2" numeral next to the name. I get that it is a team of Maria Kristina Habring and Richard Habring - but did they need to choose a character that requires like 10 minutes to figure out how to enter into a text document? If Habring2 was a mathematical equation I think the result would be Germanic mechanical sentiments times nouveau design classicism equals whatever you see here. That makes sense right? I never did very well in abstract math. With highly limited production numbers, the best pieces are watches like this Doppel 2.0 (redunda
Thoughts on AP Perpetual Calendar Platinum??
Gentlemen and Ladies,Been lurking on the forums for some time, but breaking out with my first post. I've been seriously considering a new (used) AP Perpetual Calendar in platinum. The openworked platy perp is a grail of mine, but still beyond what I want to pay for a watch. A version similar to this link (but not a Muhammed Ali special edition) has come up, but without papers or box. Cert of Origin can be obtained from the manufacture, and seller is willing to obtain it as part of the sale. I love the platinum, love the crystal back, love the perp calendar, but not completely convinced about the textured dial. I know its completely subjective, but what are your thoughts? For reference, current collection includes PP 5980, AP ROO Safari and JLC Master Compressor Chrono - I seem to have gravitated towards chrono sports watches. Part of purchase would involve trading in the current AP ROO for the perp calendar. Also, if the watch is to be sent in to the manufacture for a CoO, wou
Help me choose my next patek
Hi guys,So i’ve Been really wrestling with regards to deciding my next patek. I created a thread recently and there was overwhelming response from others to go for the 5164a. Now I know I should choose what songs to me but I also do value your input, especially considering that I tend to sell my watches in less than a year as I get bored easily.I currently do not own any RG watch, the only patek I own is 5980 blue dial.Below are the choices:1. 5164a2. 5960r black dial (preowned someone offered me below 56k)3. 5205r black dialThanks a bunch
Probably the first and last time this has happened in the universe
Was wearing a 5960r the other day. My friend noticed the calatrava cross clasp. He says:Nice watch. Is that Tory Burch?
