Ralph Lauren Sporting Watch With Elm Burl Wood Dial
I recently learned that this watch does not yet have an official name. It will sometime next year. This is a new version of the Ralph Lauren Sporting watch. It has an elm burl wood dial and face that is meant to evoke the interior of one of Ralph Lauren's cars from his personal collection - a 1938 Bugatti (that is as sexy as a top model). Because of this forum, I caught the 16710 bug like so many others. I decided to zero in on one with SELs and lug holes, and after much searching, was fortunate to come across a great deal on this beautiful K-serial. It's in great condition, but the bezel did have just a few marks on it. I went to Dallas RSC over lunch one day and they put on a new bezel (old one had a small dent that would make installing and removing an insert difficult) and new Pepsi bezel insert as well. I absolutely couldn't be happier, this watch is everything I thought it would be and more. I can completely see why many think this is one of the best references in the Rolex lineup.Hard to imagine this one coming off the wrist anytime soon.
