Elegant Accessories: Pens for Watch Lovers
Watch companies have upped the ante in the quality of their branded accessories particularly in the case of fine writing implements, a category near and dear to the hearts of many watch collectors. In this 2009 column by Fine Pens writer Jan DiVincenzo, the first in our online archive of WatchTime’s popular lifestyle columns, we take a look at some of the standouts. In pairing a watch with a pen, the obvious preference would be for both to be of the same manufacture. And this shouldn't be difficult, as more and more watch companies now offer pens. However, most of these pens, like other watch-branded ancillary products, come from companies that do not specialize in making them. Cartier, for instance, has been making pens since 1924 and currently offers nine pen models, including the Santos, Pasha and Roadster, which match their respective watch models. But these pens, despite their material preciousness, are usually not as thoughtfully engineered as their timekeeping brethren.A

5205r !
Hello Patek enthusiasts, Your pics have bought me to a point where I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a 2 month old 5205R with the calatrava deployant for 41K. I know most of you love the piece but I'd love to hear the cons as well. The only thing that might be stopping me would be the size at 40MM. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks. Sam. Here is a pic from the My daily, that's why I think the PP might feel, look small.
Sell PAM 111 and upgrade to PAM 1312?
As the title says, would you?I have a PAM 111 series R (2015) so one of the last few batches produced.I love how it looks and sits on my wrist and looks great always with my various Paci straps. However, despite having this for almost 20 months and using it almost as my daily beater, I still cannot get used to:1) No date - i still always flick my wrist2) Forgetting to wind itI have a Sub Date that I use when not on the PAM and purely from a functional perspective, Auto and Date rocks.Hence the 1312. I like the 312 more aesthetically, but the case size would just not work for me. That said, I also really like how the 1312 looks.Anyone gone through something similar as the subject line says?Cheers!
Cellini makes Hodinkee's Watch Spotting
Not sure if someone else has posted about this but Hodinkee's Watch Spotting section has an article about former Pres. Obama wearing a Rolex Cellini reference 50509 (time only white gold) in his presidential portrait.I looked at this watch when it first came out. 39mm of white gold with a double bezel and classic time only. I like the changes Rolex made to this line. And IMOP it is a classic dress watch.
