Another First Time Omega Owner!
If honest I've never really paid too much attention to Omega - until I saw the Sedna gold Seamaster Planet Ocean! I really liked this piece and, when via a contact from a good chum on TRF I was offered a decent deal on one, I went for it.I love it, its a superb piece. Big, yes, but I'm used to, and like, big watches and, in all honesty, it doesn't feel big on the wrist. The ceramic dial is lovely too, with a beautiful shine, which the double AR'd crystal exposes to good benefit. Its certainly made me a potential fan of Omega and I appreciate the fact that you get more for your money than with Rolex, a brand which in my view is over priced and over hyped. The Omega presentation is awesome too. The fantastic wooden case is way better quality than Rolex and I'd even say better than with AP.
Omega Apollo 11
HiAs a reponse to my other post someone mentioned Speedmaster , so I went to look.Firstly , in Prague , where I am currently living , the biggest AD has very limited selection on display but can order everything from catalogueThey had the Speedmaster and the limited edition version ( identical except for the red second hand and silver insert at 9 position)I just read all the reviews here and the only issue seems to be the price. They are asking for a 12% premium for the LE , offering 5% discount , and I have the chance to get VAT back of 20% ( flying to Switzerland in a few weeks so I can get the stamp at customs and the AD will refund me upon presentation of stamped docs). Net price is GBP 2650 /USD 4000.For the 12% I think its worth.... personally I like the watch with that silver insert ,so its not just about the LE issue. Is there anything I should be concerned about , or anything I should look out for when laying out the cash ? Its my first proper watch so I thought I will ask just
028 or 026?
I have a 028 but am thinking of making an exchange for a 026, knowing that I have a 233 and 82, what do you think would be better to complete the collection? Knowing that it's watches that I intend to wear, I haven't worn the 028 yet but feel the need to wear a third Pam.The 028 is more original, being a limited edition of the earlier model 28A and 28B, the 3 have a few differences. The 26 and 28 are both DLC, the first hand wound and the second auto.Of course the 26 is basically the same watch as my 82, just black and destro, but seems to me to be more in the Panerai classic DNA style.I put the 2 photos but am not sure they will be visible, if not here are the 2 links to the pages on the Panerai site for these 2 models. The original strap for each are not great but with a brown leather strap or the OEM rubber strap the 28 looks better..panerai/en/special-ed...serve-pam00028.panerai/en/special-ed...anded-pam00026Thanks for your advicePAM028_FRONT.jpgPAM026_front.jpg
