7 Modern Watches Inspired by Historical Pieces
The vintage-look trend that has been so prevalent in the watch world in recent years showed no signs of abating at last year’s Baselworld watch fair. Modern re-editions of historical pieces continue to emerge from some of the most venerable watch brands. Here are seven notable examples of “vintage-inspired” watches that launched in 2015.The Omega Globemaster the first watch to receive the brand’s “Master Chronometer” certification is technically an all-new model in the Omega portfolio, but it gets its design cues from earlier models: the pie pan dial echoes that of a vintage Omega Constellation from 1952; and the fluted bezel is derived from that of another Constellation model from 1968. The 39-mm case (available in stainless steel, yellow gold, two-tone steel and yellow gold, and Omega's proprietary Sedna gold) has a brushed finish, with two polished bevels connecting the edges of the lugs to the bezel. Introducing the Defakto Kinetik
Defakto is a German watch brand known for its commitment to minimalist design. Alongside Limes and Archimede, Defakto is owned by the famed Ickler family, who has been in the business of producing high quality watchcases in Germany since 1924. Defakto was founded in 2009 by Raphael Ickler, whose minimalist vision has guided the brand since day one. In the past, we've reviewed a number of different watches from Defakto's catalogue, among them the Akkord, the Akkord Modular, the Eins, and the Detail. Each watch was expertly executed, punching well above their weight with impressive fit and finish. Last week Defakto quietly revealed their newest watchthe Kinetikand it's the coolest one yet, boasting a design ethos that exemplifies simple done right. The Kinetik comes in a 3-piece case housing an ETA 2824-2. At 39mm, the Kinetic is a great subdued size relative to the rest of the market, and it's also the smallest watch Defakto currently makes. The stainless steel case is available in two
Birthday surprise for me
It's just a cake....for now !!
does the 116610LNs abundance ever get to you?
I'm going to be getting a black submariner date when I graduate in a few months (BBA in finance from an accredited NYC school) and as I walk through midtown, I see everyone else has one too. Even my dad has the same watch. I can't help but think when I start work in the field, many people I'll work with will also have the same watch. Is this conventional thinking for the first time rolex owner? However, I assume that once I get it, I won't really care Can anyone who wears a 116610LN chime in? :)
