Hands-On: With The Audemars Piguet Openworked Royal Oak Reference 15305 (Live Pics + Video)
The Openworked Royal Oak (reference 15305) was introduced at SIHH 2010 but really only began hitting stores in the past few months.? The watch is absolutely awesome, and from we we hear, is next to impossible to find.? At roughly $30,000, we view the Openworked RO as the first of two "entry level" haute horology products from AP - the other being the new Millenary 4101 that Ben raved about after SIHH.?What makes this watch so interesting is its youthful, industrial tone.? Many skeletonized watches can take on an ornate, almost formal look, but this Royal Oak avoids that, to its credit.? The caliber 3129, which is the openworked version of AP's in-house 3120 found in the traditional ref 15300 RO, is really something you need to see in the flesh to appreciate, though we've done our best here with live pictures and HD video.?Also, being based on the 3120 movement and not the 2120, this skeleton is a bit thicker and sturdier than previous openworked Royal Oaks.? This beefier stature plus a
5524G or 5235G?
well, after a week of ownership i am still not completely convinced of the 5524G and i am thinking of selling it (no issues in finding a buyer). it turns out that i could immediately take home a regulator 5235G (at a good discount, the watch is not going strongly at the moment). what is your take? i like the regulator, came close twice to acquiring it but pulled out at the last moment....is it a piece that could become important for PP collectors in the future? currently there are about 50 watches in chrono24, starting at 38500 USD. how do you see the regulator in the future? collectible maybe? the watch has a great (unique) movement, a nice bauhaus design case and a great dial. still, not much love....i am a bit unsure here...
No 2018 Rolex Price Increase
Spoke to my AD yesterday who said he had a meeting with rolex on Thursday and he told me that Rolex have said they will not be increasing the pricing of its models this year. I know you can never take anything as gospel but he seemed adamant and so I thought I'd share!
After looking at every Rolex model, the best one is!
I can't figure it out. Please post your favorite model.
New incoming - their tactic worked!
Earlier this week my local AD hooked me up with a hulk when I went in to look at a DD40, this 'favour' meant I had no option but to go ahead with the DD40 purchase - I am a gentleman after all In all seriousness though, I am very pleased with this new purchase, Rolex's yellow gold is such a wonderful colour and the president bracelet combined with the fluted bezel is an absolutely winning combination. I had thought about a different dial but in the end it had to be the classic & iconic champagne with sticks The AD was kind enough to include a battery operated watch winder (much needed for my safe!) and a lovely Rolex overnight bag - plus I earned enough Avios for a weekend city break so will be able to use the bag soon. So a very satisfactory transaction and it's great to have a 'good' AD in my local city. Some pics of the arrival, meeting its new stablemate, and a couple of wrist shots in the sun.Cheers everyone RJ
