Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Celebrates 60 years with the Bathyscaphe Men's & Women's
There is something to be said for being the first to start it all. When you think of luxury diving watches, other brands might compete for attention, but the mere mention of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is enough to end all discussion on which is the most important diving watch in history. Which other watch can claim to have laid down the blueprint of what we know as the essential aspects of a diving watch? From the depth requirements, the?unidirectional?bezel marking dive time, to the must-have indication of the watch's functioning, these and other?criteria?that have come to define a dive watch would not have come together had two French navy divers been satisfied with the dive watches of their dayIn fact, the Fifty Fathoms from Blancpain has such a long and storied history that if you're a diving watch?enthusiast, the basic facts should be familiar to you. Planned Maui vacation, unplanned first Rolex purchase
A luxury vacation in Maui last week delivered all the sun, beach, and 'chill' one expects when committing to an expensive but well worth the money Hawaiian respite. I innocently went up the stairs toward the men's room on the shops level and noticed the Rolex dealer. I didn't exactly stumble in, but I did have lots of rummy courage when I told the salesman to make me a deal and I would walk out with a new Submariner. He did and I did. I walked in with a 23 year old Sea Master chrono I bought pre-owned for $1500 in 1996. I paid full $7500 retail for the Sub No Date (an AD has to sell Rolex at full retail right? Not sure if this is
16570 With a Suit?
Hey all - Considering a 16570 Polar. I loved how it looked in person, but not sure if I will tire of it as my main watch. I wear suits most days to work and I think the size and white dial give it a more dress/sport edge, but I wanted to get other people's opinions who have owned the watch. Here is a picture of one I tried on about a year ago:
