Movement Hands-On Series Episode 2: A Movement Conceived And Made Entirely By The Same Independent Watchmaker
Welcome to the second installment in our?Movement Hands-On series, an irregular series of articles where we scrutinize and analyze unique and?interesting?calibers.?In part?one, we took a close look at the highly unusual movement of the MB&F HM6 Space Pirate here,?and today, we continue with the work of another - although in some important?ways?very different - independent watchmaker.Whereas the?high-end watch industry has for long been?largely based on?the co-operation between?specialist craftsmen C working either within the company or at external suppliers C when it comes to independents, most all of the tasks are performed in-houseand for just a handful of independent watchmakers, those tasks are performed not by dozens or even a few, but by just one craftsman. Patek Philippe 175 Auction Interview With Head Of Christie's Watch Department
As Patek Philippe celebrates their 175th anniversary, the major auction houses are celebrating too. Auction houses have done very well over the last few years, thanks to the brand's popularity among collectors, when it comes to their rarest and most exclusive timepieces. On November 9, 2014, in Geneva, Christie's will hold its "Patek Philippe 175" watch auction in celebration of the brand's anniversary. This will be an exciting time, as Patek Philippe themselves will hold various celebrations, along with the unveiling of a new ultra-complicated timepiece, and fellow auctioneer Sotheby's will be auctioning off the famed Patek Philippe Henry Graves Supercomplication pocket watch, that is expected to fetch around $17 million. To learn more about Patek Philippe timepiece success at auctions, as well as with collectors, I spoke to John Reardon, the International Head of Christie's Watch Department. A watch guy and seasoned watch sales expert, John Reardon is one of those people you want arou

Should I get the 114060 from AD or grey?
Hi experts, need your help here. So here's the thing, grey prices are almost similar to ADs or pricier. 114060 from an AD would cost 10,000 SGD here and a 2013 model from grey market would cost around 9300+ SGD. I was thinking if you add the servicing cost after, it would likely cost the same. I've heard a lot about people saying don't be the first guy to absorb the initial cost from buying new. But does it still apply now? Which option will net me the best deal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
