Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends April 12th
Round-Up By Kenny YeoWelcome to the very first edition of watches-dealer's twice a month round up special. Two times a month, I round up the best watch articles and reviews from watches-dealer and from around the internet for your reading pleasure. Here are my picks for the first half of April.1.? Bell & Ross Aviation Instrument Watches 2013For the past couple of years, Bell & Ross has released a couple of aviation-themed watches based on their signature BR01 case, and this year is no different. 2013 will see three new aviation-themed watches. The three new watches are named Airspeed, Heading Indicator and Climb, and their names are a good indication of which cockpit dial provided the inspiration for the design. Powering these watches are ETA movements.Although these watches are not the first word in legibility - especially the Heading Indicator - they stay true to Bell & Ross' older aviation-themed watches such as last year's Altimeter and the older Radar. All in all, thes
Choice Pick Tiffany & Co. Streamerica Watch For Sale
Coming along only once in a while the Tiffany & Co. Steamerica hits eBay again. This is, in my opinion, the nicest version of the watch with the full metal bracelet, dark gray face, and simple face (some other versions featured world timers). These watches age really well. The high quality steel takes a beating and polishes if necessary. There are very few bracelets in existence of the type used on the Streamerica. Look closely at the construction and you will see a horizontal as well as vertical linkage. This acts to allow for increased flexibility in the bracelet resulting in a more comfortable, fitted wearing experience. I don't know whether to attribute this to Tiffany & Company or Hysek that designed, but the it is a fascinating design seldom seen elsewhere.I have discussed the Tiffany & Co. Streamerica watch at length before, which can be seen here. This particular watch is obviously well kept, and to my surprise the seller quoted me in the watch auction. Thus I am pa
Open papers - Is it acceptable at Omega service centre?
How does Omega service centre treat a timepiece with open papers? Will they honour the warranty?Note here the jeweler info is missing, as well as the date is unfilled. In all my previous Omega purchases with AD, the Jeweler info is preprinted. They only fill in the date part by hand...
Possible Day Date 40 dial change?
Hi, was wondering if Rolex still allows dial changes on Day Dates? Did it a few years ago on a 36mm Day Date through the AD to them. Now I am thinking about a change in my rose 40mm. Please let me know if anyone has done it fairly recently in the U.S.. thank you!EricE
Thinking of Platinum YM or Polar Exp2
It's funny how some watches can just get stuck in your mind for no reason. I spent all last night searching Instagram for the Platinum 1/16622. The Rhodium grey caught my eye when it first came out but handling the 37mm version in a boutique let me down a bit. The dial is hard to read under bright boutique spotlights. I guess the whole Platinum part got me. To a non-watch guy it would just look like steel and being the non-hot model makes it appeal more. Come to think of it I don't think I've ran into a Pt in the wild. It's monotone, plain but there's an easter egg.In terms of not-so-hot model comes the 16570 polar. The polar has a GMT but not exactly; with the scarcity of Alum bezel GMT's the 16570 has started to fill the demand hence prices creeping up.With both 16622 and 16570 the main drawback is the bracelet. 116622 comes with the newer bracelet but will come with added premium. From discussions here I also read that the 5 and 6 digit dials differ ever so slightly?Another possible
