How Software Helps Design Complicated Watches Like The Franck Muller Giga Tourbillon
When it comes to watches, especially mechanical watches, there is no denying that they are incredibly complex miniature machines. Have you wondered how those watches are designed and validated before the first piece of metal is cut? This used to be entirely done by hand with drawings and slow prototyping. However, starting in the 1990s, the watch industry has moved toward using design and engineering software to create everything from cases to movements.SolidWorks is a software suite that many high-end watch makers rely on to design and test movements digitally. In a recent video we can see how a Franck Muller movement design can come together, such as the Giga Gong Tourbillon we're seeing in CAD.Frankly, after watching something like this, it seems almost indescribable that watchmakers were able to advance the craft as they did before the advent of tools like this. ?Of course, it probably involved a lot of trial and error, and fiddly modification of parts - in other words, quite a bit
I Admit It, I Have A Weakness For Fashion Brands, And The Release Of The 2008 Hermes Clipper H1 Diver Watch Does Not Help
What is a fashion watch? Well it can mean a couple of things, but in this instance it means a company that mostly makes clothes or other fashion accessories, and then embarks on releasing watches. The nicer the underlying brand, the more expensive the watch. French Hermes not new to this game, but in the last 10 years or so have stepped up their watch offerings. Releasing more mechanical watches along with a more masculine line.I have always been a fan of the Clipper line. The good-looking sports watch depicted numbers oriented toward the center of the watch, with well crafted bracelets and cases that are meant to remind you of clasps and metal patches on the company's signature leather work. The new for 2008 Hermes Clipper H1 200m Diver has a name that makes it blend in with the other models, but is really something new and must more interesting. The first thing you'll notice is the new dial and big date. The "H" pattern on the dial is typical of Hermes' use of the letter "H," and make

Hey everyone, I picked up a Omega Seadweller PO today. I actually picked it over the SS Rolex Sub Date I was originally looking at. The Sub is a great looking iconic watch, but I already own a couple Rolex and the PO just smiled at me a little more.. For almost half the price, I think it's a great looking watch with an incredible movement. I love the all brushed look of the bracelet, although I do think the Rolex bracelets do have a nicer feel to them, even though i'm very happy with the Omega clasp. The anti glare crystal makes the dial very easy to see at all angles, and even though I was originally going to get the model with the black bezel and the orange 12, 6, 9, after seeing them in person I picked the all black. It's simple yet classy, which is exactly what I was looking for. The orange tip on the second hand still adds a splash of sportiness if that's even a word :) I've only owned my PO for a few hours now, but so far I am extremely happy with it. My GMT-IIc might have to s

Saw this watch in the wild today
My wife has a good friend who has mentioned to me that her father is into watches. Today I got the chance to meet and talk with him at his granddaughter's birthday party (his granddaughter is the same age and friends with my son). Here's the watch he was wearing today. I'm relatively new to watches as a hobby (within the last couple of years), so this is by far the nicest one I've seen in person. It was truly beautiful.
