Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer & Friends August 1, 2014
Prices of watches have been increasing steadily over the past decade, but how do they compare to, say, three or even six decades ago? Just how have they really changed? And is it really because it is due to the rising costs of materials and inflation alone? We take a closer look at historical prices of two of the most popular sports watches around today - the Submariner and Daytona from Rolex. That aside, we also investigate the recent matter regarding Bremont's new Wright Flyer watch and its supposedly in-house made BWC/01 movement. Just how "in-house" is it and what is the real story behind the whole incident? We also pay a visit to Nicholas Manousos, who successfully made a working tourbillon using a customized 3D printer. Finally, we chat with the great Walter Lange as he celebrates his 90th birthday to find out more about the beginnings and the future of one of the greatest institutions in German watchmaking, A. Lange & S?hne.1. How And Why Rolex Prices Have Increased Over TimeR
Incoming to share with my 17 year old son
My son has taken a great interest in watches since I started wearing a Sub C. Thanks to David SW, I got a great deal on this Speedmaster Pro to share with him. Having it sized today and also going to get a leather band as his wrist is a bit smaller then mine.
How do you say Omega?
Seems like there are various ways of pronouncing Omega.I just wonder if this is something related to ones nationality, or if there is a definite right or wrong way to say this famous brand.Maybe you even have a totally different pronunciation that I have not contemplated.
AD predictions
I spoke to the AD I had used to buy my SubC ND earlier this year about possibly getting on a waiting list for the BLNR.He stated that it was suggested to them that the BLNR was discontinued and that a new GMT would be announced at Basel next week. He said if that turned out to be false, he would contact me after the conference. We talked a few minutes about the current state of SS professional watches, and he felt the Subs would remain difficult to get, and suggested that the following were watches he believed he would be able to get going forward on a reliable basis:Air King, Explorer 1 and 2, Deep Sea and Black Bezel GMT.He didn't want to overstate availability of Subs with and without date, he believed they would not stop production of them in SS, but supplies would be very limited. We will see next week I guess.
my AD juste Called
Had a call from my AD yesterday, my DJ 41 has just arrived from Rolex so off I went to collect it. A beautiful watch that contrasts and compliments my GMT2 perfectly; Im well pleased. Photo attached for you guys.
