Gustafsson & Sjogren Bifrost Isbla Damascus Steel Dress Watch
According to Gustafsson & Sjogren, the watchmaker/bladesmith combo team out of Sweden, the Bifrost represents their first dress watch collection. I sort of have to disagree with that premise, as many of their other watches could have easily seen dress watch duty (depending on your style). A good example is the superlative Gustafsson & Sjogren Winter Nights watches (hands-on here) that combine a lot of design and watchmaking nerd appeal.Having said that, the upcoming Bifrost collection will certainly suffice as a casual or dress watch, if you feel that one of Johan Gustafsson's "high contrast" individually-made Damascus steel dials is suitable to pair with your suit. As is their custom, each new watch collection from Gustafsson & Sjogren (aka, GoS Watches) begins with an individual model which will later be followed up with others that feature varying dial styles and possibly colors. Using various techniques and acids, the hand-forged Damascus steel dials can be rendered in
Wifey's Bday Gift. Input Please.
Ok. So my wife is turning 40 in a couple of months and I've decided to get her a watch as her gift. I've gotten it down to 2 models. Got some input from her in passing as we window shopped. I'm trying to decide between an AP ROO SS white or a Blancpain Leman model in white. Both have diamonds on the bezel. The AP comes on a rubber strap and the Blancpain comes on either stain or alligator strap. The AP is much more sporty while the Blancpain is a bit more dressy, but sporty enough I think to wear casually. She already has dressy pieces from JLC and Cartier. Here is my dilemma. The Blancpain is an automatic movement and the AP is a Quartz. Is it worth paying this much money for a quartz movement? She likes the idea of a quartz because she doesn't have to adjust the time before wearing it. I just have a hard time getting my head around it. I just wish AP would make this model in an automatic without the chrono. What do you guys think?
My trust 2531.80 still lives strong !
Since the purchase of my new DSSD, I feel the love for my Omega dipping slightly. However, that is not the case, and I'm wearing her today !free image hostStill look good after I walked out of the AD with her brand new, 9 years ago. Although, she's probably due for a service, she's still running +5 a day so I'm perfectly happy with that.
Waiting on my 5980
I have always wanted a Patek 5980ss and I pulled the trigger on a blue dial 6 months old mint and complete. Was shipped FedEx yesterday from Los Angeles overnight priority and its sitting in Memphis since 1am this morning at FedEx hub. Looks like I will have to wait another couple days Very frustrated. One would think that after 27 years in jewelry business I would have learned to have more patience as these things happen every now and then but NOT when its for a Grail timepiece LOL
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks
I’ve got more pictures and was hoping I could get some input on what people think of this sub. It’s an 16800-R serial number purchased new in 1988. Bracelet was replaced a couple of years ago. Thanks in advance Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
