Four New Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Watches For 2015
The perpetual calendar is among the most highly regarded complications in?horology C and?with good reason. The way its all-mechanical brain knows the lengths of the months throughout the years and makes the date display jump from the 28, 29, 30 or 31st day to the?1st all by itself, even in leap years, is?genuinely amazing to all watch enthusiasts C while its exact workings?is understood by much fewer. The four new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar watches for 2015 bring back the terrific looks of the original "RO QP" C the Royal Oak Quentime Perpetual C albeit at a slightly larger size.Originally designed?in 1981, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar to this day, remains one?of the most timelessly beautiful dress watches with this complication. What's new in 2015 is that the "new" models, by the reference?26574OR.OO.1220, are 2 millimeter wider, coming in at 41 millimeters now (that is, excluding the crown, as always). Two versions in steel and two in pink gold,
Which blue dial ROC?
I'm looking to add a blue dial watch to my collection preferably a chrono, and even-though I have always wanted the Panda ROC, since I already have a Daytona Panda WG which I can not see myself let go, I was thinking of a blue dial ROC instead. Stuck on these two dials though. I have never seen them in person so it's very hard to decide...The all blue dial and blue sub dials has all white markers and hands, very nice contrast. The second one has a silver finish around the markers and hands, and adds the orange which mixes well.Tough choice
Omega Basel display
Went to the Basel event at the local boutique this evening. Lots of cool stuff.Event was good. Not many people there but it was kind of come and go. Bent the ear of one of the sales guys for nearly an hour who I think was tired of getting watches out for me by the time I left. Some things I learned:The Deep Black is amazing, and I WILL be getting one.The new PloProf doesn't do anything for me.Omega changed it up a bit and now all POs that are orange/grey are Titanium (not sure I ever saw that as part of the announcement). In the past, the blue variants were always Ti. And they now have a blue PO in stainless steel. The 18kt PO on rubber strap (that looks like alligator). This is blue, although hard to see in the pic. This has now taken the droolworthy place on my list over the 18kt/Oysterflex Yachtmaster. The new Speedmaster Moonphase is pretty sweet.
Omega Speedmaster newbie
HiSo I've never been really interested in omega but as i am growing my collection. I find myself wanting to get an omega speed master with a brown dial. When looking at pricing i see a speedmaster for 6k and some for $1800. To me they look the same but I'm assuming there difference references. I dont want something too expensive. I for sure want it to be a brown dial and i know i want to put it on a vintage leather strap. My question is which reference should i be looking at, so its a little easier for me to find. I would like to spend no more than $2500. I will not wear it on a steel bracelet so that doesn't matter to me. Don't want to pay extra for a nicer bracelet reference. Is there any websites about the speedmaster that i can read that talks about the difference references. Feel free to post pictures as well as i don't really know what I'm looking at.
Debating on the 5140 or 5327
Hi everyone I am new to the forum. I am thinking about buying a Patek at my local store. I am in love with the 5140P-017 that was released at Baselwold 2016. My problem is that I am not sure if I should wait for the platinum 5327 or to get the 5140. Does anyone know how the Patek cycle works? If a platinum version is releasing this year I would probably wait to see how it looks. I'm looking to purchase ASAP. So any feedback would really help!
