Parmigiani: Watchmakers Of Yesterday, Today And Tomorrow
The Parmigiani Fleurier HeadquartersOne would imagine that spending six full days with a watch brand is long enough to become comfortably acquainted with them and ask pretty much everything you want to know. That is true a lot of the time, but on this occasion, even after five nights of little sleep, nearly two thousand photos and many in-depth conversations, I feel a need to return and learn more. Nevertheless, I walked away with a new-found knowledge of history, watch making tradition and haute horology after checking out the Swiss brand, Parmigiani Fleurier, a world we bring you in two parts. In this article, we first discuss how Michel Parmigiani's ambitious undertaking and the generous help of the Sandoz family collectively resulted in a true manufacture. Next, we look at what it means to transform from a restoration workshop into a modern watch making company, heavily responsible for the future of the trade. Finally,?we discover how a few individuals and a company can be the bridg
Davosa Vigo Review
We're always on the lookout for brands that offer especially good value for a mechanical watch. Especially if that watch happens to be Swiss made and powered by a high quality movement and even more so if that movement happens to have an interesting complication, such as a GMT or chronograph. Davosa, a German brand established in 1993, specializes in offering such watches. Ranging from a few hundred to around $2,000, the Davosa watches have classic looks, high quality components and the build quality one would expect from a "Swiss Made" watch.? Unfortunately, like many smaller European brands, you (if you're in the US) might not have heard of them. Well let's change that.Case: SteelMovement: ETA 2893-2Dial: BlackLume: YesLens: Sapphire with A/R coatingStrap: Black LeatherWater Res.: 50mDimensions: 40x46mmThickness: 12 mmLug Width: 20 mmCrown: 7 x 4 mm screw downWarranty: NAThe Davosa Vigo Dual-Time is a watch that immediately caught my eye. I just want to say, I have been lurking here WAAAAY too long.....and I REALLY want a ROO of my own. I WILL have one someday soon, God-willing. The phenomenal pictures I see of the watches on this forum only serve to increase my desire for ownership!!!! I see a Panda on my wrist in the near future....with a strap...and a bracelet....!!!! It will likely take me several months to a year of saving discretionary income in order to make my purchase.....patience is a virtue!!!Just thought I'd share.....
5711 l-1A-010 or 5164-001 in my situation
Too many Aquanauts?I currently have a 5167-1A-001 (SS) and am looking to add a rubber strap watch collection. I love the look and functionality of 5164A-001 but adding another Aquanaut seems to be too much or is it? However, I must say I have (3) different Rolex Daytona's - RG, TT, SS. Is it strange?I also want to add 5711-1A-010 to my collection but most likely can only get from a grey market. I can get a 5164 from a AD. I want both 5711 and 5164 just as much - would you get a watch in grey market and pay a premium or just wait or forget it?Regards,Hotshot888
Arrested while wearing a Rolex
Hello forum I want to begin by explaining that I am not anticipating arrest or anything like that, I'm just curious lolSo, suppose you get pulled over, and arrested while wearing your watch What happens then? :First, I think the handcuffs might bang up the watch.Second, I don't think you can walk around jail wearing a Rolex (I wouldn't know).Third, what happens to your watch while you are locked away? This may be a very naive question, I don't know. But I looked it up and it doesn't look like somebody has asked this before.
