Close-Up: Breguet Classique 5717 Hora Mundi
The #breguet Classique Hora Mundi, in simple terms, is the first example of a mechanical timepiece with an instant-jump time zone display. All of the displays jump between time zones with the push of a button. Once you see it, the concept is so intuitive, you wonder why it has not been done before. The Breguet Classique Hora Mundi is equipped with the 5717 self-winding mechanical movement, which is based on Caliber 777 with a silicon escapement, in this case fitted with an additional module. The dial displays hours, minutes and seconds via centrally-mounted hands. The date is at 12 o’clock, and the city or time zone indicator is at 6. A large sun/moon or day/night display rests between 3 and 4 o’clock. The instant-jump time zone feature with fully-synchronized displays is the showstopper. This is a world-first for a mechanical watch, and indeed this timepiece has generated four patent applications. Here’s how it works:From among the 24 available time zones, the wearer
What can I expect from AP Boutique with my new watch?
Hello all,I am expecting a Boutique-only watch to arrive soon and I have a question about what happens to the watch when it arrives. Do the Boutique staff keep it in the back for me all wrapped up in whatever the factory sends it in? Does it go out on display until I physically go there and pick it up? This is my first AP, so can anybody shed light into if the watch arrives in some special package (the way a sealed PP does) or otherwise?I sometimes hear that people see a watch in the store (can't recall if it is the Boutique or AD) and the staff say sorry that watch is spoken for, it isn't for sale but people are still able to try it on. To be honest I don't like the idea of a bunch of other random people trying on my watch and playing around with it before I take delivery.Am I able to tell AP to keep it in the back and not have people testing it out while I wait for it to arrive? If this was a car dealership, I can't imagine other potential customers test driving a car that you o
Offered a blue 15400. Should I take?
Hey all,Just picked up a white dial 15400 last month, but the boutique called and offered me a blue dial. Are they really that rare that it would be worth purchasing? Is there a flip opportunity? I would possibly trade my white dial, but if I would take a wash on the blue I wouldn't really be into it.Thanks!
Caseback question
So I recently put some money down on a 42mm 2500 Planet Ocean at my Local AD. I got a fantastic deal on it better than used prices are going for here so needless to say I'm pretty happy so far.Now for the question I see that the new 42mm Ceramic models have a clear caseback. Would I be able to have my AD actually order a clear Case Back from Omega and install it on the watch? I wasn't sure if case sized are anything were different from the 42mm 2500 to the 42mm 8500. Any tips would be great thanks
Help with possible first Patek - Need a push
So to make a long story short, I have been lusting after a 5711/1a blue dial for a while, and if they weren't so difficult to find sealed from an AD or even at retail from a trusted seller I would probably have one already but the difficulty finding one is really holding me up. Recently it dawned upon me that if I buy this watch, I won't be able to buy another substantial piece for at least 6 months without the wife cutting off parts of me that I would prefer to keep. So what do I do? Continue my almost religious flipping of watches that gives me oh so much satisfaction or just shell out the cash?
