You've probably seen at least something about DLC. You might not know what it is though, and the three letter term might go right past you. That's OK, because DLC is a relatively new addition to a watch maker's arsenal. Speaking with the very knowledgeable people at Linde Werdelin, I? recently have a new understanding of DLC, and am excited about Linde Werdelin's future incorporating the special coating on select lines of watches. Be aware that while DLC has many industrial applications, finicky watch makers demand only the highest grade materials and processes.DLC stands for "Diamond Like Carbon." Which is a bit confusing, as so many things are made from carbon, including diamonds. The idea is simple, diamonds are extremely dense in terms of their carbonic make up, and so is DLC. Weird experience with omega box!
So I just purchased an omega PO and noticed the box was starting to peel the shiny coating off.So me being a mechanic and owning a shop, I thought Id take and air nozzle and at least blow off the pieces that were just hanging there, and while I was doing that the air nozzle was blowing off the entire coating very easily, so I continued and did the whole box, completely, and to my amazement there was a beautiful suede fabric underneath, see pics below!The bottom pic is of the pieces that were blown off

How do you care for your PPs...
Hi all,Was wondering if you keep all your PPs on winders (assuming they are at least annual calendars) or do you let them run out of juice if storing for much longer (circa 6m to 12m+)?Also how often do you get the spring bars replaced or take it in for a quick look at PP service?Thanks so much

Do you think it's a bad trade to go from 16610ln to a vintage 16600 or do you think once you've had the more modern refinements you can't go back?

First Rolex - OP 36 or Sub?
I'm finally in a position to purchase my first Rolex and I'm having a hard time picking between the 36 mm Oyster Perpetual and the no-date Sub. I love both for different reasons (the OP's simplicity and the Sub's classic look), but I suppose the choice really comes down to whether the Sub is worth the extra 2K over the OP. If anyone owns either of these watches I'd love to hear your thoughts on using it as a daily timepiece. Thanks!
