Omega Speedmaster 57' as EDC
Hey, I'm currently thinking about buying my first serious luxury watch and after some intensive research I'm down to just 2 options;the steel with black dial (non broad arrow) Omega Speedmaster 57' (331.10.42.51.01.001)and the Rolex Submariner with black dial and stainless steel (116610LN).my question is which of those is a better everyday carry? since it would be my only watch for a few years, it has to be suitable for my everyday life. also, i wouldn't want it to be too much of a show-off, or too common. but not too much under the radar.the watch has to have an automatic movement and a date.also worth mentioning - I'm 21 years old and want a watch that would look appropriate for my age.the important aspects for an edc are for me:1. suitability for variety of outfits (i would wear it all the time and want it to compliment my clothes, do not wear suits etc)2. casual water resistance (I'm not a diver but i don't want to thinks about taking of my watch for every shower or every time i en
Patek Philippe PVD/DLC
Spotted Ed Sheeran wearing what looks to be a PVD/DLC coated PP in a latest music video, I personally have never come across such a thing! Apologies for the poor screen shots, would love to know what you guys think and if you've ever come across one before?
Patek Museum Preview Vol I & II
Has anyone noticed on the Patek Philippe website, that the Museum Preview volumes are available for download in PDF without purchase? Yesterday I was at an AD and the manager showed us a copy and I was just now searching and came across the downloads for them. Very cool stuff.

A 400-500 Unit Tachymeter Scale is Absolutely Useless for Most Folks
For chronograph lovers, the tachymeter/stop watch function is its most attractive feature (whether strictly for looks or actual usage) and the pushers always add a nice touch to the overall appearance of the watch. But one thing has always perplexed me and that is, whether it's on land (or water) a 400+ scale reading is somewhat useless from the standpoint of actual attainable speed. The other evening, I saw a gentleman wearing a Seiko 6139/Pogue chronograph and on its tachymeter scale, a 50 unit reading is visible at 00:12. This made far more sense from the standpoint that even a F1 driver is rarely going to exceed 200 kph and the descending scale on the 6139 allowed for a sub 60 unit reading. For most practical applications, a 50-250 unit reading seems far more useful IMHO.From the air, a 400+ reading is difficult to ascertain as the landmarks for establishing a visual reference point are oftentimes inaccurate and impractical. Besides, if one is going that fast, who has time to play a
