Very pleasant experience at AP boutique in Geneva
Today I took my brand new watch into to the AP boutique in Geneva. I wasn't quite sure what reception I would get....I've been in there a couple of times recently trying on watches. I needn't have worried. The guy who has looked after me on both of my visits greeted me warmly, and his smile did not change as I explained that I had bought a watch elsewhere for 25% less.They were charming, gave me coffee, took great care sizing my watch for me, removed the stickers, and gave it back to me in one of their nice leather travel boxes. I couldn't possibly have been better looked after.I chatted with the head watch-maker and learnt a couple of interesting little things....one needs a 1.4mm screwdriver to add/remove links from an SS 15400 and 1.2mm for a gold one....and, wait for it.....they recommend use of a watch winder.I walked out of the boutique wearing my watch, and for the first time it felt like mine.

This is a model that seems to be more polarizing than I'd have thought. I've wanted a Nautilus for some time. I think an annual or perpetual calendar is the most useful complication. The moon phase is cool, and the dial is well balanced. So, why do so many not care for it? What do you dislike? I'm looking to be talked out of it, otherwise I'll purchase one next month.P.S. I have little interest in, and no use for, chronographs. So, a 5980 recommendation is not likely to sway me.P.P.S. State of the Union
Let's try not to make this political, please. Widely watched sporting, cultural, and political events are generally good watch spotting opportunities. Did anyone see anything good at the State of the Union address tonight?Pence had on a black leather-banded dress watch, but I couldn't make out the band. I saw some bracelet watches but my TV wasn't big and sharp enough to catch what they were.Did anyone spot any Rolex? I mean, I'm not expecting any Mrs. Roger Federer type bling, but I thought we might see something.
