Chronoswiss Launches 2010 Holiday Sweepstakes
Independent manufacturer Chronoswiss has announced the 2010 edition of its Holiday Sweepstakes in the United States. The contest runs November 15 through December 31, 2010, with a chance to win one of the brand new models from the Chronoswiss Sirius line of watches that was just released for sale in the United States. Chronoswiss traditionally uses the holiday season to give back to its loyal followers. “We are looking back on a tremendously successful 2010” said Hartmut Kraft, President of Chronoswiss of North America. “That is why we want to share one of our watches with the lucky winner of this Holiday Sweepstakes.” The winner will receive the stainless steel Sirius Ref. CH 1023, valued at $4,900 (pictured below). This watch features a hand-wound manufacture movement Cal. C.111 in a 40mm finely brushed and polished case with sapphire front and back crystals, water resistant to 30 meters (3 ATM). The hand-crafted and polished hands and applied numerals adorn
Inside The Manufacture: How Are The Dials Of The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Made?
SIHH is just 10 days away, and the story of this year's show will likely be the 40th anniversary of Audemars Piguet's Royal Oak. While the famed ultra-thin movement (the thinnest in the world with a full rotor), the amazing Genta design, the incredible finishing on the stainless steel case, the fact that the watch essentially created the luxury sport watch category are all great things, the one thing most often overlooked is the unique design to the Royal Oak's dial.Since the very first Royal Oak was sold to the Shah of Iran, and those 1000 A-Series pieces left Le Brassus, they featured dials with a tapisserie pattern on them, a weaving pattern that forms the square and lozenge motif that captures the light and accentuates the timepiece’s "geometric relief." But just how exactly is this pattern created? Well, AP has been subcontracting the production of its Royal Oak dials to one famed dial manufacture all the way from the beginning - Stern Creations. The 15202ST is nice but the RG 15202 is something else
As we all know how classic the SS Jumbo is which retains so much DNA from the original A series designed by Genta. the RG jumbo on the other hand is truly something else, the blue dial executed just perfectly with rose gold. needless to say here are a couple wrist shots for you guys
Happy New Year and Question for 2013
Hi and Happy New Year to you all.Question for 2013. does any one own the DeVille Chronograph with the new 9300 movement. REF 431.10.42.51.01.001. Im thinking this is one beauty that may be finding a home in 2013. Just can't decide on the dial colour yet, any ideas?
Buying my first Rolex: Explorer I or Submariner
Hello everyone,I have been reading this forum for a while now, interested more in technical details than anything else, but this is my first post.I have been a watch enthusiast for many years, since I was a kid really, my first watch was a Casio F-91W, and also had Swatch, Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, Alpina, Orient Star and Nomos along the years.I also would like to mention that I am not a watch collector, and recently decided to sell all my watches and become 'a 1 watch guy'. This watch I would like to be a Rolex, that can also be a family heirloom and pass is down to my son who is 3 years old at the moment. I am attracted to this brand because of its history, quality and reliability. This is where I would like to ask for your advice, I have narrowed it down to 2 models: the Explorer I and the Submariner 'no date'.Which of these two models would be longer lasting with normal wear? Also (this might be a silly question, sorry for this) why is the Explorer I considered a sports model when it
