Omega Trade Question?
I intend to buy two watches in the near future: a Rolex Explorer II or GMTIIc (not sure which of the two, as I love both and see pros and cons to both) and the new PO GMT (because I like POs and find the 43.5 mm watch is the best size available, and looks great with the darker bezel).On the other hand, since I'll be getting a Rolex 4-hander, a GMT PO may be overkill. Which takes me to today: I am selling a mint 1-year old Breitling Chronomat 44, with full set and warranty, to fund these watch purchases. Not having the easiest time selling it, despite the tremendous value.I am offered a straight trade for a LNIB, never-worn Omega Planet Ocean 42 mm. I am seeking your advice as to the values of the watches in that trade. MSRP on the Breitling (with in-house B01 movement) is $8960. To my knowledge, it's difficult to get a warrantied/full set in-house Breitling for much less than 25% discount. (Grey watches sell for less.) Patek 5712 - how durable of a watch?
I've got two Rolexes and I'm looking for my final piece- which I'd buy in a few years. So the Patek 5712 is a possibility because of the design, the moonphase, the metal bracelet (no leather/cloth straps), and more specifically, I want a watch with a clear caseback. That being said, how durable/reliable is the 5712? Obviously I wouldn't be running/working out/letting my kid chew on the watch now and then (thank god for the Sub's 300m WR ) with the 5712. And I know that letting the Patek go on a decade without service like a Rolex isn't a realistic expectation either. My expectation is that I can desk dive and get it wet, i.e. if cooking or washing my hands and some water splashes on it and it will be OK. I also don't want a watch I need to send in every 3 yrs because of an issue. Now I love the Patek given the design & history, but what would ruin it for me is if it is too fragile to handle daily life or if I have to have it spend a 1/3rd of the time out for service. I don'

I'm in hot pursuit of my first Daytona.I'm now wondering if maybe I should forego buying a highly overpriced 116500LN ($18,000-$20,000+) and instead go for a well cared for 116520. Should I decide to pursue a second hand Daytona SS 116520 which year model should I set my sights on? Are the newer year(s) such as 2014-15 better than previous years? Do any of the 116520 model years have annoying characteristics I should avoid?Any other pointers and suggestions?Many thanks for your help.

Adding a Hacking feature to all movements?
I am a FREQUENT traveler.... flown on one airline, over 100,000 miles this year. I love my DJ41, (purchased earlier this year) but one thing I truly miss is the feature of moving just the hour hand when traveling through time zones. With my GMT, and then my EXII, it was so easy to simply click the hour hands back or forth to accomodate the time change (I might have the term wrong calling it hacking but you get what I mean). I know it doesn't seem like a big deal to pull out the stem to another click and manually move the minute hand ahead or behind two or three hours, but like a lot of things in life, you don't miss something until it's gone. I guess this is a question for Larry and the other smarter people on TRF then me (which pretty much covers everyone ) but is it such a big deal to offer that feature on all movements? I wouldn't think so. The 3235 is outstanding, but this is one function I would really like to see added. Rolex, are you listening?
