Breguet Travel Clock No. 1 for Only Watch
Breguet built the first modern travel clock in 1796. He equipped it with a balance spring, successfully replacing the pendulum balance that was unfit for travel. Glass-covered on four sides and small in size, this clock bore the number 178. In April 1798, General Bonaparte purchased it to take with him on his Egyptian campaign. Today, the Breguet collection still includes a travel clock fitted with both a hand-wound mechanical movement and thermometer, and it is on this clock that Breguet has based a limited series of seven travel clocks, the first of which, number one of seven, they have donated to Only Watch. The clock is in the Art Deco style with columns and traditionally hand-guilloch dial. Breguet craftsmen still use guillochage lathes designed and built over a century ago. Once the dial plate has been hand-guillochaged, it is silver coated using techniques developed over two centuries ago. The well-finished, manual-winding movement in this clock is entirely made in Breguet's Val
Pam 305 for a 11610LN good or Bad
I have been offered a trade of my 2014 116610LN plus 1500 Euros for a 2014 Pam 305. Would I be mad to make this trade. I love the Pams and this would fulfill my need for a new watch however I do worry that I will miss the Sub at a later stage. Anyway interested to hear peoples opinions too the trade and I am aware as this is a rolex site that most people would feel the need to reject the offer. Anyway a good discussion is always useful with lots of counter and pro points. Thanks PS I already have a pam005 which I can use Monday to Friday in the office so the question is which sub for casual weekend wear?
I often wonder ...
...what happened to my old base Pammys ... are they with a good home ? being looked after ? I'm without any Pam now. I paid ?1200 for my first 000. The most I paid was ?1750 for a 176. .... we are talking this millenium ! Now they are over double that ! The 176 is the one watch I wish I'd kept, and I had 2 of them.
GMT II on small wrists?
The last time I posted, I was considering a Sub C no-date and a DJ 36 but, after doing some more research, I'm leaning more towards the SS GMT II. The price is right but I'm just worried it might look goofy on my ~6.1 wrist. Does anyone else with a smaller wrist wear a GMT/Sub?
How much discount can I expect from an AD Tudor
I'm buying my first luxury watch soon, I hope. I have my mind set on a Tudor Pelagos (black, probably new model). I have gone to the AD and they quote me 10% under list price. I have phoned other AD but they all stick to the list price. What is a realistic % discount to expect from an AD?I don't mind paying +/- 10% more than the gray marker, but the difference is at the moment closer to 25%. For me this is quite a big deal.
