Zenith El Primero Foudroyante Chronograph 1/1O Second Watch
The first new Zenith watch of 2010 that I saw bored me to sleep at night. It wasn't a bad watch, but it just didn't do anything for me except remind of all the other watches that look like it. Now I learn about another new for 2010 timepiece that I actually do like (though it is not very practical). It isn't the neatest watch in the world, but it does take a very uncommon complication and places it into 1970s retro sport watch (why? Don't ask whyWhat? You know better than the Swiss?). Jaeger-LeCoultre released a watch with the same complication this year, but in a more classy traditional style watch. The complication is a foudroyante, and Zenith is specially equipped to make one. A foudroyante (also known as a "jumping seconds" watch) is a watch with a chronograph that is able to measure fractions of a second, done via a dedicated dial. The Jaeger-LeCoultre watch does more things as a watch, but doesn't have as fancy a foudroyante being able to measure only 1/6th of a second. Using its
HODINKEE Powerball Special: What Watches We'll Buy When We Win Tonight's $1.5 Billion Jackpot
Here at HODINKEE HQ, we have been talking about the Powerball A LOT lately. We all (shamelessly) have bought tickets and are waiting with bated breath until the numbers are drawn tonight. Naturally, we all have talked about what we would do if we won and the obvious question has been, "What watch would you buy?" Nicholas Manousos C George Daniels' Space Traveller 1 OF 6 If I win Powerball tonight and could splurge on any watch imaginable, I would attempt to purchase George Daniels' Space Traveller watch. I say attempt, because the Space Traveller is a one-of-a-kind watch that was last sold at auction on November 6, 2012 for 1,329,250 GBP. I would have to somehow find the current owner, and convince them to part ways with their unique piece of horological history. Finished in 1982, the Space Traveller is George Daniels' masterpiece. It ep

Was it easier to buy Rolex sports model back in 70s to 90s?
Just wondering was it difficult to buy a sports model e.g sub, gmt, Daytona etc back in the 70s to 90s period as compared to now? As many of us know (and get frustrated), it's quite difficult to just walk in into any AD now and buy a SubC due to stocks 'shortage'.
