Hublot Watches + Jet Li + China
In a recent interview with Hublot's CEO Jean Claude Biver he mentioned to me how Hubot will put a lot of focus into Asia (namely China) in 2012. Boy, he wasn't kidding - and I expect a full of series of spectacle style events to ensue in the next few years that only Hublot knows how to put on. Hublot hasn't ignored China up to know. Starting in 2010 they chose martial arts actor Jet Li as a brand ambassador, and have had other events in the region. When Hublot puts their sights on something they do aim and fire with the biggest bullet they have. While I doubt they will reach the popularity of Omega in China (which is a totally different kind of brand), Hublot will likely be able to replicate the modern style and fun wearing experience that Hublot has a reputation for in Europe and the United States (among other places as well). From all that I hear China is a very tough market to crack. Many Chinese consumers are interested in fashion and status symbols, as well as wearing and owning "t
The Patek Philippe 2497: On Leap Day 2012, We Show You A Perpetual Calendar You Need To Know
You won't find the owner of a perpetual calendar any happier than you will today, February 29th.? You see, one of the coolest things about a true perpetual calendar is that it automatically knows and adjusts for leap years.? Thing is, they don't come around too often, so every February 29th, people that are lucky enough to own a perpetual calendar go a little nutty and start showing complete strangers their watches on the streets. So, on this leap day, we thought we'd show you a famous perpetual calendar that you should know about.? It is, of course, from Patek Philippe, and its reference is the 2497.? It is a traditional manually wound perpetual calendar and it was launched in 1951.? The 2497 was introduced alongside the 2438-1, which was the same watch with a waterproof case and though it was produced for over ten years, only 179 examples were made in total, of both references.?The 2497 is traditionally divided into two series, differentiated by their dials.? Series one is as above on
Buying my first AP!
I just bought my first AP - an offshore diver. Will post pics when it gets delivered. With the good news out of the way, I wanted to ask the AP people their opinion: Do you think the 15202R will get discontinued anytime soon? I tried on the watch this past weekend and LOVE it but I can't afford it just yet. I would hate to see it discontinued before I get purchase one. Do you think the AP Royal Oak Extra Thin (JUMBO) is here for the long haul? Will AP make changes to the model or do they normally just leave things as is?Thanks!
Bracelet for a ROO Panda?
My Panda is on a strap. While I love it, I find that I prefer bracelets for my watches.Anyone know where I could get a bracelet for it?Is it hard to swap from strap to bracelet and back?
5119 wow.
I had the day off yesterday so of course I went out to look at watches. My main target was the Lange 1, I liked it.My wife wanted to go to Tiffany & Co and they had a few pieces I had been wanting to check out. The first one I noticed was the 5196P. Originally I had been interested in this guy until I found out it doesn't have a crystal case back. Seeing it in person confirmed that it wasn't for me.Next was a 5124G, I quite liked this one. It reminds me of the JLC Reverso which I also enjoy. The new 5200 reference is something I'd probably really like if I had the funds and luck to get one.The title of course is the 5119J. This watch is just stunning and if I had the space on my card I would have probably bought it even though it had the Tiffany dial. They just got it and put it in the case hours earlier so I was the first person to try it on. I had no idea how intoxicating it would be, I went from 6 to midnight almost immediately. My wife said she preferred the rose gold
