Watch Magazines For Your Away From Computer Reading Pleasure
If you are into watches, then you spend a good deal of time online reading about, looking at, or shopping for watches. But you can supplement this time by looking at watch magazines. Yes, there are actually a good number of them. In fact, as watch enthusiasm draws some of the most artistic, mechanical, and style conscious fans, there is bound to be a good deal of well written print content on watches.Watch magazines are a good deal like car magazines in that each has a particular appeal while trying to remain general as well. Some are more "technically driven," discussing watch movements and innovations at length, while other magazines are more "style" or "lifestyle" focused. These latter options may appeal more to the casual watch enthusiast, and will most certainly include a few articles on other interests such as fine liquor and wine, cars, or travel. Technical watch magazines can easily bore readers by going into great detail with gear diagrams and the benefits of new techniques of
Gavox Squadron Review
The last Gavox watches we took a look at were a couple of really cool, kind of different, Marine style pieces. Powered by Miyota automatics with price tags under $500, they were very compelling. Following up these pieces, Gavox has gone a pretty different direction, from a fun and playful take on something classic, to a serious attempt at a military pilot's watch. What immediately sets the new Squadron watches apart from others in the stylistic vein, is that they were made at the request of the Belgian Air Force and designed to their specifications. These watches are distinguished by the special emblems on their dials. Checkout this great gallery of images of Belgian Air Force Pilots with their Gavox Squadrons. The civilian version of the watch lack an emblem and is an edition of 500. Design-wise, they clearly speak to a lineage of European military pi
Historical Perspectives: 'The Watch & The War' C A Short Film Tracing The History Of A 1
Watches tell the time, but they sometimes also tell us history. Filmmaker Benedict Campbell's short film "The Watch & The War" tells the story of Benedict Brucia, an American naval intelligence officer during World War II, and the origin of his very special watch – a 1938 Panerai Radiomir with a Rolex movement. As a young boy, Jim Brucia admired his uncle Ben's curious wristwatch. He ended up inheriting the watch in 1972, but never learned what his uncle did during the War. In 2007, Jim Brucia uncovered the history behind the Panerai watch, and in turn discovered what his late uncle did during WWII. 1 OF 1 Benedict Brucia In this short film, HODINKEE's own Benjamin Clymer joins Jim Brucia to explain the historical significance of this important watch. For more on the filmmakers, click here.
