Louis Moinet Jules Verne Instrument 1 & 2 Watches With Moon Rocks
Would these watches make Jules Verne proud? Possibly. The unique chronograph watches from recent luxury watch maker Louis Moinet proves that the steampunk genre is alive and well. How do I know? Probably because these watches epitomize the ideal and I love it. Influenced by Jules Verne's classic 1865 novel "From the Earth to the Moon" (plot: big gun shoots American and French man to the Moon), the watch even houses an actual piece of rock from the moon (found on Earth). There are two models of the Jules Verne watch. First is the Instrument 1 "From The Earth To The Moon" watch, and second is the Instrument 2 "Around The Moon" watch. The different between the two is that the Instrument 1 has a chronograch with a second timezone, and the Instrument 2 has a rattrapane chronograph (split timer). The watches feature two "firsts."?? Most obvious, is the unique chronograph pusher system that uses fold out levers to operate the chronograph. This helps prevent starting and stopping it accidentall
Dilemma ROO to ROC
So i own a ROO rubberclad in SS, its the last model with the updated dial and its pretty immaculate. Problem is i haven't worn it for ages, i seem to have just out grown it and feel that it only goes with sporty attire. Although its definitely a looker, its a shame that it gets absolutely zero wrist time.I have the itch to trade it for a Royal Oak chrono on bracelet. I think that it goes with wearing anything in all situations. I like the 39mm as the 41mm sub dial positions (the new larger gap either side) haven't grown on me yet. What are your thoughts? should i trade? has anyone done the same? should i just keep it, save and buy the ROC?
50 Shades of Omega
Quick and dirty incoming pic! Hopefully will have time to get some real photos taken this weekend!
Omega Aqua Terra GMT chronograph
Just received in trade a new addition to the collection. This 44mm Omega is the most complicated watch that I own...hours, minutes, seconds, GMT, chronograph plus a bidirectional rotating bezel and screw-down crown. It feels like a Planet Ocean XL 45.5mm on the wristLater today, I will visit an Omega AD in search of an Aqua Terra bracelet.Meanwhile, I stashed the alligator strap the watch was supplied with and installed a Planet Ocean XL black rubber strap.
Visit to Wempe (AD) in NYC....
I was in NYC today on 5th Ave and stopped in at the Wempe/Rolex AD. They carry other watch brands suck as Cartier, Patek, IWC, etc. A beautiful store, lots of sales help and a glass of champagne if you want it!They have a dedicated Rolex Boutique. I have never seen so many Rolex watches in a store. The only SS sport models were 1 Milguass (blue dial) and 1 AirKing, that was it in SS. In PM I remember a Yachmaster II, and perhaps one or two others, yes a 116710BLRO in the window. If you want a DJ, they have tons of womens and mens sizes. Many open spaces on the display for watches sold and not replenished. I did not ask about when they would get a replenishment because I did not want to hear the sales BS.I was able to pick up another copy of the Rolex Magazine, Issue 7.
