Breguet Birthday Bash: Exhibit Celebrates Bicentennial of the Wristwatch
The discussion about what was the first timepiece for the wrist, and what watchmaker produced it, has typically involved a handful of well-known contenders, chiefly Cartier, with its Santos-Dumont from 1904, and Patek Philippe, with its Countess Koscowicz watch from 1868. Breguet, however, has the historical documents to make a compelling case for the honor. The brand’s namesake, legendary watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, delivered a wrist-worn timepiece, commissioned by Caroline Murat, Queen of Naples and sister of Napoleon Bonaparte, as early as 1812.This year, of course, marks the 200th anniversary of that milestone, and Montres Breguet, the brand that today carries on Breguet’s name, is commemorating it with an exhibit of historical interest and import to watch aficionados, called “1810-1812: Breguet Makes the First Wristwatch, Fit For a Queen.” First launched in Geneva, the exhibit begins a worldwide tour starting this week at Breguet’s Fifth Avenue
How Screwed Is Watch Industry Thanks To Apple Watch?
During the launch of the Apple Watch, myself and thousands of other bloggers tried to take in the information, while at the same time covering the news, given our own perspectives on the watch or technology industry. Apple even asked a lot of fashion bloggers to attend the Apple Watch launch, which was a curious thing, until you realized that there were about 34 different versions of the Apple Watch, to begin with, that will be available when the smartwatches begin shipping sometime in early 2015. Most notably, a range of versions in full 18k gold or rose gold cases. While Apple has not released a lot of the technical specifications about the Apple Watch, there is enough information available for myself and many other people to have a good idea of what the Apple Watch will do, how it might fit into people's lives, and how it fits next to the competition. The question today is whether or not that competition is limited to other wearables and smartwatches, or to other more traditional wat

Panerai PAM 292 Stolen. BIZARRE!!
Hello,I would like to share a bizarre case of how to lose a watch. I don't even know when to start, and it took my a month before I am able to arrive to the conclusion that my watch is indeed gone and I am doing this write up.So I just got a PAM 292 which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was clean, it was classy, and a hell of a watch. I received many compliments for the 292 and was steadily falling in love with it so much so that I haven't stopped wearing the watch for the 2 weeks that I owned it.One friday evening (6-June-2014) I was having dinner with a few friends at a high end shopping mall in Jakarta when my stomach decided to give me a ring, notifying me of a long trip to the bathroom. It took me 30 seconds to go to the bathroom, 1 minute to clean it up, and another 10 seconds to take of my watch and finally sitting down to get to doing my business.10 minutes later I stood up only to find out that my watch has, amazingly, vanished. I stood there with my mouth wide open, looking at the e
