Da Vindice Tourbillon Barometer Weather Station Watch
I think there must be something in the water in Switzerland. How else could you explain the multitude of, well, non-traditional complications getting placed into mechanical watches lately? While I hadn't heard of Da Vindice previously, their latest model certainly made me take notice. They've taken something that I've only previously seen implemented in fully digital outdoors watches (ie, the Casio ProTrek line) and paired it with a, dare I say, whimsical tourbillon implementation. The function in question is a barometer and it is part of the 2014 Da Vindice Tourbillon Barometer timepiece. This is very similar in concept to the Breva Genie 01 watch from 2013 (hands-on here). You know, those things that are susceptible (by design) to changes in atmospheric pressure, and give a rudimentary sort of a local forecast? As a weather-telling device, barometers have always been fascinating to me. Implementing one into a wristwatch may not be the most logical thing to do, but it does make more se
Hands-On: With The Red Gold Piaget Altiplano 900P, The Thinnest Mechanical Watch In The World (Live Pics & Pricing)
Back in December we gave you the very first live photos of the Piaget 38mm Altiplano 900P, the thinnest mechanical watch in the world. The 900P celebrates Piaget's 140th anniversary and continues the manufacture's long tradition of pushing the limits of ultra-thin watches. At SIHH we got our hands on the red gold version of this watch and were just as impressed with it as we were with the white gold version. Here's a recap of what makes the 900P so special and a detailed look at the rose gold presentation. Enjoy. 2 OF 13 The Piaget 38mm Altiplano 900P had to take an entirely new approach to construction in order to achieve its amazing 3.65mm profile. Most significantly, the case is directly integrated into the movement instead of there being a discrete movement placed inside a separate case. The back of the case also serves as the baseplate for the movement. Additionally, the bridges make up most of the dial, with the actual "dial" sitting in the to
Vintage Omega dealers?
Hey everyone,I'm a newbie when it comes to vintage Omega, and in fact my only experience with the brand is owning a SM PO that I purchased in 2005 (my first dive watch).I'm wondering if anyone here knows of a reliable and honest vintage Omega dealer? I'm familiar and have dealt with a lot of the Rolex vintage guys, but I figured I would ask here first. Thanks in advance
5711 vs 5712
Patek Lovers,I was reading the thread on 5712 vs the pilot and it got me thinking...The 5711 has appreciated to the point where I can see a dealer getting close to doing a one for one swap (maybe a little out of pocket for the 12)The 5711 is a special piece but I just can't fathom why one wouldn't want to take advantage of this references'spike. What do you guys think?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
