Jacob & Co. Astronomia Tourbillon Watch
For 2014, Jacob & Co. returns with a rather amazing watch creation sure to impress everyone from traditional watch lovers to the public at large. Watch the video below of the new Astronomia Tourbillon and it is easy understand why "wow" is a typical response to this complex and very interesting horological creation. When and whether the Astronomia will actually be produced is another question, but even if the timepiece remains a digital video I would be happy at the creation of the mere concept.Jacob & Co. was one of the first watch makers to understand the power of "insane watch," that being a mechanical watch of epic complication meant solely to wow and impress in a manner akin to the tone and content of many rap music videos. These are designed to be "ultra-luxury lifestyle" watches for people who buy new yachts when they are bored and surfing eBay on their phone while waiting for their personal bankers to exit the toilet of the yacht they are currently sitting in. The only
Bvlgari Introduces An Octo Chronograph Watch
In the run-up to BaselWorld, Bulgari has released some information on their newest watch, the Octo Chrono. No, this one isn't emblazoned with any eight-legged sea creatures. Instead, you've got an octagon, a representative combination of a square and circle (and, if you follow their hyperbolic press release, it symbolizes the combination of Italian design and Swiss precision). While the design is sure to garner attention, that's not the main thing that makes this watch interesting to us.For that, you actually need to look past the angular skin (though, with 110 alternating brushed and polished surfaces, that might be a tad hard to do). What I really want to draw some attention to is the movement that's beating away. With it's silicium escapement, 50-hour power reserve, and high-beat (36,000 VPH) nature, you've basically got what amounts to a Zenith El Primero movement (you can read more about the El Primero and column wheel chronographs here). Now, I don't care what watch a movement lik
Technically evolved Alain Silberstein watches have some amazing features
Technically evolved Alain Silberstein watches have some amazing features that set your pulse racing with excitement. Temperature, atmospheric pressure, altitude, and even GPS position, Alain Silberstein watches can measure all. Innovation is the force that drives Casio. It has given the world of watch-making many novel concepts. In the 1980s it gained popularity for selling calculator watches. Then it created watches that could display time of different time zones. It was also one of the early manufacturers of quartz crystal watches, both digital and analog. The list of achievements is endless.
5164A with a 5167A steel bracelet?
Has anyone tried a 5164A with a 5167 steel bracelet?I love my 5164A with the tropical strapBut sometimes I might want to dress the watch upI am curious if others have tried this and if people have any thoughts(Of course the tropical would always be the main strap I'd use on the aquanaut)Thanks everyone
Watch storage temperature
Good afternoon all, apologies if this sounds stupid!I returned home from holiday last night. This morning I went to take my watches out of the safe to give them a good wind and introduce them to my new BLNR. Lol. I noticed the safe was pretty cold to the touch (as it's been very cold in the U.K. this week) and also the contents too. Including the watches regardless of being in their travel pouches. Would being stored in a cold environment cause some internal damage over time perhaps to the oils and lubricants? Or if I'm winding them once a week should this prevent any problem? I'm sure there's nothing to worry about but just wanted your opinions. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
