Ulysse Nardin, Audemars Piguet Raise Eurozone Prices as Sales Rebound
Reuters correspondent Silke Koltrowitz interviewed Ulysee Nardin President and CEO Rolf Schnyder and Audemars Piguet CEO Philippe Merk at the Global Luxury Summit in Paris earlier this month. Both men said their sales are increasing, and each has raised Eurozone prices as the Swiss franc strengthens against the euro. The franc has risen about 4.6 percent against the euro this year. Schnyder told the Luxury Summit “We changed all our prices in the euro zone a week ago. We took an exchange rate of 1.40.” Merk said “Of course there’s the pressure to adjust pricing upwards in Europe. This trend is going to persist. We had to make a little adjustment in March. We increased prices by 4 percent.”Commenting on global sales, Schnyder said U.S. sales turned positive at the end of 2009 and that the market is recovering strongly with sales up 35% in May against admittedly weak year-earlier figures. Schnyder said that China and Russia are also doing well. Schnyder expe
Jaeger-LeCoultre Sets Up Dedicated Site For Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie Watch, To Make Case For $2.5 Million Purchase
First of all, I am a big fan of the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie watch and the accompanying set. I discussed it at length here when going over the announcement of the Hybris Mechanica. Once again, it is the current most complex watch in the world, comes in a limited edition of just 30 sets, and will cost over $2.5 million. Recently Jaeger-LeCoultre has unveiled the watch itself and the uber display box (the safe), they have also opened a dedicated website to showcase just what the Hybris Mechanica set is all about, focusing of course on the Grande Sonnerie. You can check out the site here. The site is very nice looking and gives you lots of nice little details about the watch that you'd otherwise miss by just looking at it. However, the site is not easy to navigate - another victim of form over function. Just look out for the easy to miss "X" button on the upper right hand corner when you want to go back to the previous page (welcome to a Flash-based nightmare)
Help finding pre-owned PPs while in NY.
I am looking to make my first PP purchase and would like the opportunity to view and try on some models while visiting New York in the next few weeks. Any advice on the best retailers I should visit where I might find a nice selection of pre-owned Patek's (entry and mid level models...not the historic and/or 6 figure variety unfortunately!)? We will be staying in the Rockefeller Center area of town. Thanks in advance.
Was the Submariner case changed for 2018 or not?
I thought I read something about slimmer lugs and a redesigned case profile, but can't find it. I'm assuming there has been no change or it would've had a lot of attention. Is this correct?
An Introduction and an Appreciation
Gentlemen I've been on TRF for a while now (when I did not own a Rolex) and was initially rather intimidated by the passion and knowledge that a lot of you have. The technical and non-technical discussions, made me realise there's an entire ecosystem here. I've been wearing a Tag Carrera for about 3 years now and was (and am) really happy with it. But even before, I'd always had this itch for a Rolex. Every 6 months roughly, I'd visit (my now) AD who was super patient with me. I turned 30 a few months ago and something went off in my head. I'd been looking at the BLNR for a long while and had made up my mind. A confluence of circumstance made me think that now was the time. When I went down to my AD though, he also showed me the GMT Master II 116710LN. I've heard that a watch must speak to you. And the LN sang to me. I booked it a month ago and it finally arrived on Wednesday. Here's a few pictures of (what I think) is a magnificent and elegant watch. This is my first post on TRF, and
