Marc Newson Video On Designing Watches And The End Of Ikepod
Marc Newson offers a rare interview discussing his career designing watches with Dezeen. In the video Newson offers some interesting details that many people might not be aware of. Newson started to design watches and clocks back in the 1980s. In the 1990s he started the watch brand Ikepod - which arguably helped set a lot of trends in both watch design and production. Newson does sort of credit himself as having started the "big watch" trend. True or not, it is charming to see him boast about it.I've talked to Ikepod about working with Marc during the last several years of their relationship. They expressed a trying relationship with Marc, describing him as being highly creative but difficult to work with, as well as demanding. Ikepod had a very successful first couple of years but the business of watches slowly eroded the relationship between the people running the brand and Newson. In the video he affirms that he officially severed ties with Ikepod about midway through 2012. You can
I am getting that itch again, think I need an AP
Really want to add an AP into the collection. Have had a RO, 2 ROO and 2 44 Novelties in the past. For one reason or another I am without an AP at the moment. Gave one to one of my sons and traded or sold the others away. Was thinking about a RO or the ROC. Wish the ROC had an inhouse movement or that would be a simple move. Still thinking of getting a black dial to offset my white Daytona. Had a chance to see the black dial Rose on strap and WOW is that something. Haven't seen the white dial must be impressive too. Anyone have first hand experience/opinions on these two?ROO - to me the black with red is far and away the best iteration. Having never owned a Diver, that has my attention too. I see a lot of these being traded, why does it appear people tire of these?Couple questions, anyone own a ROC and a Daytona, if so, does the Daytona ever see the light of day?I know in the past with a RO it recieved it's fair share of time. Not sure where to go on this one but the hunt is often a lo

First Omega!!!!
Alright I'll be honest I've always been a Rolex fan and thought I would never get an omega. But in the past few weeks I've seen so many speedmasters on people, forums, and random articles that I started getting the itch. I thought I was done with watches for at least a few years after getting my SubC and GMT2 BLNR but I was wrong. Since my last name is Moon I always felt I needed a moonwatch but got mesmerized by the Daytona as my future chronograph. But then after stumbling on speedmaster history I was totally obsessed. I started with whether or not I wanted the sapphire sandwich since I love display backs especially for such a beautiful movement! Every forum I read said the hesalite is absolutely critical. Eventually after seeing sapphire in person I realized the hesalite was the way to go. But then I saw the 3572.50. Long story short I still want it and I'm looking for a NOS 3572.50. But in the mean time.....I emailed DavidSW and picked up a perfect speedmaster with all the extra go
