Watches NEWS
Current Speedmaster Price in UK?
There was a lot of press after Brexit and the ensuing devaluation of the GBP that some watches were much cheaper in the UK. My wife will be there on business and I was wondering if this was still true. Are prices still lower in the UK? How much for a new Speedy Pro in the UK?
Picked up a new watch today!
Hey everyone, just picked up a new watch this afternoon and thought I would share the joy :) I've been drooling over this one for a while now, and due to losing sleep because of my drooling I decided to just go for it. I own a fair number of sports watches now, so I figured it's time to get a dress watch--especially since my TT Date is in for servicing. As I mentioned in another post, the three watches that I planned on buying this year are: Omega Deville Hour Vision, SS Daytona, and a PAM 233. So one down and 2 to go :)DeVille Hour VisionRose Gold, Leather Strap41mm Case DiameterTransparent Back and SidesCal. 8501 (Omega's first completely in-house caliber in decades)
Calatrava v. Chevron ('Henri Stern') deployant clasp
Having managed to satisfy myself with the help of responses to another of my threads, that the 5140 that I have just acquired did not have a rogue clasp (it had no Calatrava rose and turns out to be a since-discontinued 'chevron' or 'Henri stern' clasp), I have followed up on TRF and a few other forums as to the differences. Whilst there is plainly an identified issue with the safety of the chevron clasp, there is a sizeable body of opinion that strongly prefers it to the more traditional Calatrava clasp, for a whole variety of reasons. Not only that, but there are those that actually mourn its passing and regret that it is now very hard to find the chevron clasp. As this is my 'entry level' first PP, I have nothing to compare the chevron clasp with. Before asking PP whether they will give me a free swap (this seems to be available from what I have read), I thought I would sound out people's opinions on whether this would be an unwise move; not least as I guess that it is very much a
Incoming! Yas!
Hi guys, my first 2018 incoming! let's play a guessing game... I've been wanting this one on and off a few years now. I think 2 years ago, this was always available in the shelves of ADs. I've always passed it up as I figured I have others on my list I wanted more. Of course that was then. Fast forward 2018, this is now not as easily available in the ADs, in fact, it's got its own wait list. Today I called a local AD to see what he has in stock, he said he had this watch available but was named after another client when it came up in conversation. He stated that he will call the other client to see if he is still interested as he has been holding it for 3 days now (wow I didn't know ADs held watches for that long, another AD was only willing to hold something for me for 24 hours max) Anyway, g'head and guess!! Ps, the ADs manager gave me a hat with my purchase. Had a really good first purchase experience. He added that he leaves for Basel in a week. I hope that they can supply be more
