Watches NEWS
Magrette Moana Pacific Professional Watch
Our favorite New Zealand-based watch company Magrette is back with a new watch model called the Moana Pacific Professional. FEBRUARY 2013 UPDATE: See the end of the article below for links to new images of the finished watch. In addition to a slightly new design flavor and more sporty attire, the Moana Pacific Professional finally uses the well-received Japanese Miyota 9015 automatic movement that we actually covered back here. This isn't the first watch I've seen with a 9015 movement, but I know Magrette has been waiting to get their hands on these. The caliber 9015 is a high-grade automatic movement from Citizen-owned Miyota meant to compete with the Swiss ETA 2824 - and we hear really positive performance results with watches containing the caliber 9015.The Miyota 9015 movement is a 4 Hz automatic with hand-winding and a hacking seconds hand.. It has the potential to really fill in the gap where ETA movements used to go now that ETA is severely restricting sales of their movements t
Visited the Omega boutique today
My regular AD (where I purchase my watches) recently stopped selling Omega and I saw that a new Omega boutique opened recently near it.Today I went in and I was like a kid in a candy store, I WANTED EVERYTHING! It's nice to see pretty much all the models in the same place, on the flip side they only give 5% discounts or so they say.Right across the street there's a jewelry shop that is an Omega AD and trying to get the guy to offer a bigger discount I asked him if he didn't loose to many sales to the other store since they offered much better discounts. He told me that was the reason my regular AD is not selling Omega anymore and that the store across the street is not receiving any new product and is just selling what they have left. Apparently Omega is trying to control discounting and is going the company-owned boutique route.I tried on this watch and loved it:A Chopard Mille Miglia has always been on my list but I think this one just kicked it out and replaced it.It's an incredible
Alternative bands with Seamasters?
I'd like to see some pics of seamasters with aftermarket bands that people like. I'm pretty new to the watch thing, and I plan on getting a Seamaster GMT as my first automatic watch. The NATO bands seem to be popular. Any other suggestions for different bands? I'll work up to a Rolex in a few years. My conscience won't let me buy a Rolex until my house is payed off in a couple of years. I thought I might start with an Omega, and learn about Rolex over the next few years.david
Suggestions for 2nd Panerai
Hi guys! It's that time for me again...2014 was a good year at work, and it's time to spend some bucks on a new watch! I've had my PAM183 for a little over a year now, and I've really enjoyed it.For the most part, I've been a fan of minimal watches, but now I'm starting to consider something different. Here are some of my thoughts, although I'm very open to change:- I've never had a chrono- I value the GMT function- My wrist can handle a 47mm- I generally can't stomach the Luminor's crown guard, but it looks okay on the left-handersI was wondering if you guys could make suggestions for my second PAM? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts Thanks!
