Hands-On: With The New A. Lange & S?hne 1815, Downsized To 38.5mm For 2014
Much of the attention given to A. Lange & S?hne focuses on its more complicated watches, like the Pour le Mrite Tourbillon, the Zeitwerk, and even the Grand Complication, but Lange knows how to do simplicity too. At SIHH 2014, Lange released an updated version of the classic time-only 1815 in a smaller 38.5mm case, available in yellow, pink, and white gold. The new 1815 retains many of the design features of its predecessor and will be produced alongside the old 1815 instead of replacing it. Here's a hands-on look at this more classically-sized version of the 1815. 2 OF 6 Last year A. Lange & S?hne updated the 1815 Up/Down, but this release differs in two major ways: 1) The 2013 1815 Up/Down was 3mm larger than its predecessors, jumping from 36mm to 39mm and 2) The new 39mm 1815 Up/Down replaced the 36mm version of the watch. With the new 38.5mm 1815, Lange has actually reduced the case size by 1.5mm but opted to produce both versions of the watch side-by-side, allowing
The Horological Society Of New York Introduces Watchmaking 101, A Public Class Sponsored By The HODI
In the 1950s, students at New York City high schools had the opportunity to take a class on watchmaking. This class was taught and the curriculum developed by members of the Horological Society of New York. Today, HSNY and HODINKEE are teaming up to announce Watchmaking 101, a revitalized version of this initiative. 2 OF 63 Watchmaking 101 is a single-session class in which professional watchmakers teach students will learn how a mechanical watch movement works and the fundamentals of using watchmaking tools. In this hands-on class, students will also learn to disassemble and reassemble a mechanical watch movement. 3 OF 63 Previous experience is not required, the class is free, and there is no need to be a member of HSNY. And unlike the 1950s version of this class, you won’t need to be a student at a New York City high school – Watchmaking 101 is open to the public. 4 OF 63 The first Watchmaking 101 class was held on February 16th a
Seamaster Aqua Terra Chrono Beijing 2008 price
Hi fellas, this is a long shot but I'm hoping the knowledgeable Omega WIS here can help me with some information. While browsing at an AD a few days ago, I spied a brand new Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph, Beijing Olympics limited edition sitting in a display case.Lovely watch - black dial with three silver subdials, apparently 2008 made to commemorate the Beijing Olympics.I can't seem to find a price for this watch since it's 6 years old. I didn't enquire at the AD (yes I know I should have asked but I was in a rush and the staff were busy).Any help would be much appreciated.Cheers
My first Omega - recent Rolex convertee!
Hi all. After over 2 years of contemplating an Omega purchase, i finally pulled the trigger on a PO last weekend I've been dreaming of this set up since I saw a guy in Paris with it back in 2010 but never had the balls to actually move from Rolex. After reading some great reviews on TRF, i figured it was time to cough up and make a purchase. To say I love it is an understatement. I switched out the rubber deployment strap for the alligator (just like the one I saw). I was a little worried of the 45mm size, but i honestly cant tell the different from other 40mm watches when it is on the wrist. Already looking at what my next Omega will be... eyeing up the Aqua TerraHope you enjoy the pics!Chris
