New (to me) Seamaster Chrono 2598.80 silver bezel. First Omega!
Since I'm currently tasked with the web design for the new Omega Forums, I figured it was only fitting I started my Omega collection ASAP.The value provided by second-hand Omega pieces seems fantastic. The build quality is so tough and they're well engineered. Even older Omega bracelets and clasps seem to out-do Rolex and other brands in many ways. It's built like a tank, and weighs approximately 210 grams. What really sold me on the SMP chrono was TRF member dsio informing me the pushers were usable to the full depth rating. I'd previously never heard of a chrono with this feature. I can actually make use of this for free-diving, training, etc. A very useful complication. A 2598.80 silver-bezel (purchased in '98) popped up for a great price, so I jumped on it. The cost was easily low enough to be approved by my CFO ;)One of the previous owners was clever enough to attempt to remove the bezel with a bread knife (crowbar?) or similar, so it has a very slight wobble to it. I've ordered a
Initial advice please
Hello,Not been in here before...more of a Rolex person.I have a pal who is wanting to sell one of his 2 Omegas. The first option is his solid gold Seamaster (would it be 14k or 18k?, we wonder), a vintage piece bought circa late 60's, early 70's. The other is a bimetal Constellation, bought in the mid 90's. The older piece has no original box or papers, but a valuation from an Omega dealer when it was servcied 2 years ago. It sees little daily use. The Constellation is a daily user with original box and also a valuation from the same place.I will be able to put up pictures early next week. Just asking the Omegaisti their views on which one would command a better value, which one would you keep, etc.He is planning to sell one of them and I will try to help him in the FS section. he is a professional man of excellent standing, btw, I can vouch for him.Thanks,Michael.
Alligator?
Does anyone know how much a OEM alligator strap with deployment clasp would cost from an AD for a Speedmaster Pro? I looked at Otto Frei and it looks way over-priced plus they will not ship exotic hides internationally. Any other sources for these?
Identifying this Panerai model
Hi folks, any idea on what model this might be?
Tudor Black Bay SG - winding and date change
Hi FriendsTwo quick questions in respect of my Tudor Black Bay SG. Shall highly appreciate the responses from the very knowledgeable people here:(1) When I wind the watch, there is a clicking noise on the crown winding after every 5 or 6 winding turns? Is it normal and why does it happen?(2). The instant date change happens at about 12.08 am daily. On my other watches, the date change is latest by 12.04 am. Is such a late date change normal?
