Snapped this at sunset today enjoying a great cigar, a single malt and felt molments like this deserved their own thread. Any or all of the three above qualifies.
Houston- we might have a problem: 5905
Woke up yesterday, my 4 month old Patek 5905 had stopped. Was wearing it the day before so that was odd. The watch i Think has a 72 hour power reserve. However the stopwatch was running so I thought I must have accidentally started the Chrono24 and left it running overnight which drained the power.Wore it again yesterday with no chrono- everything fine all day. This morning- stopped again.Looks like I'm gonna be sending it in to the AD. Pisser as I now have to sit and wait likely months to get the watch back. Maybe they will give me a 5524 as compensation for my troubles. 😊 :)
Next on the list with the AD - Buy the 126600?
AD just called and I'm next on the list the SD43. Most likely buying as an investment piece and don't want to unseat my SubC. Worth the speculation to be an investment piece, or just pass and don't deal with the hassle and risk of selling down the road. Thoughts??
Basel Teasers
Last year, probably other years too, Rolex released some teaser videos and photos of the Basel releases. Does anyone remember how far in advance this was? A week, two weeks? If they do it again it should start soon...
16710 Pepsi or BLNR ?
Hello!Long time lurker, posting for help and ideas...I have a modest Rolex collection of a Ceramic Daytona (black face 116500), Milgauss 116640 GV, 11610 Submariner and 15210 Date (wife has stolen it, fits her well : ). Looking to add another, and I've been focusing on a 16710 Pepsi GMT or a more modern 116710BLNR. While I enjoy both watches for different reasons, I am leaning toward the 16710 Pepsi. I like the slender lugs of the 16710 vs the chunkier BLNR lugs. But, I love the blue and black of the BLNR. I am 5' 10, 155lbs, and I have a 6.5 wrist. The newer thicker lugs of Rolex Sport watches seem just a bit heavy on me. Rolex 36mm watches work (love and had a 114270 Explorer), as do the 40mm watches (with slender lugs, but haven't had a 40mm new Rolex with thicker lugs, other than the Milgauss which seems to be in between). If anyone else has gone through the thick vs thin lug debate I'd be grateful for the help. Thanks!
