Watches NEWS
Rado HyperChrome Automatic Watches
"HyperChrome" sounds like a pretty cool name if you ask me. That could be the name a neat video game or anime TV show. But no, for 2012 the HyperChrome is going to be a new collection of watches from Rado. In this article I am debuting two of the new HyperChrome watches, but according to Rado there will be about 27 varieties this year alone! The HyperChrome asserts Rado's key strength as a producer of quality ceramic watches. Available in black and white ceramic variants, Rado uses some sophisticated technology to make nicely formed ceramic parts. The case for example is a monocoque (single) piece, with hardened steel sidings. Hardness rating for them is 1,250 Vickers. It comes in a few styles and sizes for both men and women.Rado has learned over the last few years that many of its key designs (many thematically unchanged since the 1980s) are a bit too distinct for the modern mass market. I think that a lot of their core pieces will stick around, but they are really working on spicing
Steel Bracelet or Rubber Diver Strap? Which first?
I've been planning to get a rubber diver strap for my fairly new RO Offshore 42mm Grey Themes, honestly since before I bought it. Same goes for the steel bracelet but I figured I could do that down to road to spice things if ever the honeymoon phase end.So after looking into the parts, the strap, buckle and optional plots, are all more expensive than I'd expected. Although still not exactly near the cost of the bracelet, still significant.I have a couple options for pre-owned bracelets $1500-1800. The rubber strap and buckle brand new will run about $750 plus tax (without plots). So do you veterans and newbies as well, have any advice on which route to take first? Here's my watch for reference. Thanks all! :)
Vintage Constellations - need some info
Hi all,I recently can't take my eyes of the vintage 1950s/1960s Omega Constellation watches. Unfortunately I don't know much about them (yet) to make an informed buying decision. Are there any particular websites out there you recommend? So far I only really found this:omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.ca/How much money would I have to save in order to get a nice Pie-Pan model from the 60s? I'm looking more for a SS model as am not really a gold kinda guy. (Gold markers and pointers are ok)It should look like this:.ebay.ca/itm/110866303816?...9#ht_500wt_951Has anybody ever bought from this seller? I don't want to buy a Franken watchThanks in advance!Herbert
Lume question
On my Pam 24 the hands are very bright so is the bezel pip. The dial lume is not very bright, weak but still very visible (even with a charge). It is an F series. Does this mean the hands were replaced to luminova and the dial is tritium? It was recently serviced this year.I like the patina and planned on advising service center not to replace it, when it is due service. Input, as always, greatly appreciated.
